Right TWTD - recommend me a city break for late March on 12:33 - Jan 6 with 2276 views | itfcjoe | I did Venice for the first time last year and was blown away by it - couldn't recommend it more highly but guess everyone else has done that! I wouldn't say it is quite a city break, but that time of year the weather will be lovely and temperate in Madeira; and it is a really interesting, easy to navigate place. Very cheap when out there as well to eat out and do bits and just a very relaxed place - may want a couple more days though so a long weekend - flight time from Glasgow is 4 hours 5 minutes though so depends how strict you are. I think I'm going to look to try and go in Feb half term

The Mrs doesn't fancy Venice. She was also in Madera just before Christmas with my mother in law, so that's out.

Right TWTD - recommend me a city break for late March on 12:39 - Jan 6 with 2195 views | Rozz | I've decided on Athens or Rome in Feb for my birthday. Flights / accommodation both dirt cheap, massively out of tourist season so much easier to visit all the historical landmarks, and after trapsing around Madrid on a whim in 42 degrees last summer I'm looking forward to a balmy 14.

Was in Rome just a couple of years ago. Athens is a good shout.

Ha. She walked out of Hillsborough at halftime in September and went shopping. I wish I'd done the same after watching us concede thoise to late goals.

I've always been warned about Rome being a total tourist trap, so have put it off despite it having a huge historical pull. Heard good things about Athens, and am probably leaning in that direction. There's a concentration of UNESCO world heritage sites in that part of the world and several are in a day trip's reach of the city.
