Over analysis of the game kills the game . Just watch it enjoy it and move on to the next hsve. Draw your own conclusions.

I always watch it on catch up, and fast forward through the talking. I’d prefer no crap talking

Soo ...what happens if the public love the all new on 22:36 - Mar 11 with 2805 views | Ryorry | It's weird, but, unexpectedly, I'm loving it - you can really hear the sounds of the match itself properly, like the thwack of the ball against the keeper's glove when they make a save. Makes it more of an "as if you were there" experience. Once the novelty wears off I could change my mind tho.

To be honest mate I'm enjoying this.. Think of the money saved..
It's much better.... on 22:37 - Mar 11 with 2793 views | Bloots | ...particularly for those that actually know a bit about football and don't need guiding through what's happening. I imagine it's a tough watch for the armchair fans that don't know who the players are or what colour the teams play in.

Commentators are on the whole masters of inanity

Soo ...what happens if the public love the all new on 22:49 - Mar 11 with 2705 views | clive_baker | To be honest I would add some commentary and make it 45 minutes long and keep that format. I don’t need ‘pundits’ pouring over every decision and their tedious drivel between games.

I sort of miss the odd "Oh, I say" but that was Motty and sadly we won't hear the like of him again.

You do get the "significant looks" & body language between players, coaches & from the crowd much much better though, plus the "meaningful stills" (eg in the Leicester-Chelsea game there was a freeze on a Chelsea player who looked offside when one goal was scored (can't remember which one), & you can imagine a commentator saying something along the lines of "that looked as though it might have been offside but ...". Top work by the camera people. [Post edited 11 Mar 2023 23:04]

I think the editors of the highlights chose different clips than they would have done if there was a commentator. Each game was a storyboard and the shots of managers were only of their frustration at a miss and no celebrations.

Soo ...what happens if the public love the all new on 23:14 - Mar 11 with 2522 views | MattinLondon | I quite like most pundits and I enjoy hearing what they have to say. In the main, those who say that know what’s going on haven’t a clue - they just think they look clever by saying that they do.

In which case good editing too. The camera people would have known by k/o though what was going to happen, so I think they probably went out of their way to capture images that helped to point up the stories.

Soo ...what happens if the public love the all new on 07:16 - Mar 12 with 1996 views | TractorWood | The Linekar debacle aside I've long thought motd is another tired BBC relic they are too wedded to. Football consumption has changed, people want brief highlights and no analysis. I don't need Shearer mansplaining if he thinks something is good tactically.

Ah yes, I’m speaking specifically of in-match commentators, not the accompanying pundits

Soo ...what happens if the public love the all new on 08:23 - Mar 12 with 1796 views | Bluespeed225 | Loved it. Too much punditry and dissection. Pure football. If BBC own the rights to Mottys voice they could edit his words together to create a commentary? They did it on 30 Rock. Used Seinfeld’s voice to promote MILF Island😂
