The media are very strange - Plymouth 10:27 - May 1 with 11833 viewssmithy69

The media are a really strange bunch aren’t they. Plymouth, who let’s be honest have been excellent all season, barely are getting a mention anywhere

I am over the moon with what’s happening with us and the media positivity can only resonate through the club - but if I was Plymouth I would be using this to motivate there players big time

We just got a great mention on Talk sport alongside the Stevenage manager for getting promoted this weekend / but Plymouth didn’t get a mention ? Really strange

It may be a case of waiting for next week to focus on Plymouth. If they win the league it will be gushing, if they finish second it will be conciliatory - but i expect it will be Plymouth focussed either way

Recency bias? Our recent form has been mindblowing whereas they've been quietly getting on with it all season.

They've had plenty of coverage this season and since promotion was confirmed, despite what their fans would have you believe.

Schumacher's made a point of them being under-appreciated which is fair enough for him to do that for motivational purposes but they have a bizarre chip on their shoulder that no-one ever mentions them or praises them. Very odd.

Let's face it anyway, Town are a much bigger club with greater interest in us than Plymouth - if we're getting a bit more coverage than them nationally it's because we'll capture more eyes and ears than they will.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Agree, they've played the " little old Plymouth" card all season..... Can't have your cake and eat it.....

At the risk of sounding like the entitled Ipswich supporter than a number of them seem to think we are, we’re undeniably a bigger club. Same reason there’s more noise when Leeds & Forest get promoted to the premier league than small clubs like Bournemouth and Norwich.

Bournemouth got plenty of promotion in 14/15 when they went up whilst supposedly not having two beans to rub together.

Plus I think our history works in our favour. Lots of people remember Ipswich being good, Robson, Ramsey, etc., even if not alive or very young at the time, it reverberates through the record books and teams their parents mention. We project the aura of a bigger beast on their way back.

Plymouth, on the other hand, have never been in the top tier, with only a couple of half-decade stints in the second over the best part of 50 years. That lack of a former high profile (plus geographical isolation) maybe leads to them being overlooked, however good the current setup.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Have Plymouth been putting the back ground parts behind the first team that will ensure a sustainable Championship team? They certainly have a great manager and a very good team, but can they hold onto their manager and best players? Can they kick on and take it up to the level required in the Championship? I hope they can and will be a Championship club for a good number of years, but do fear that they may not be able to maintain this in the longer term. Whereas Town have been spending a significant amount off field to move the club forward, big question is how long KmK will be here and when he leaves can we find the next Kmk to continue the great work he started?
Also do Town have an aim and pathway to go up through the Championship to PL? Does KmK see himself managing Ipswich in the PL? I imagine he would be able to select what ever club he likes if he gets us promoted again! Those statues of Sir Alf and Sir Bobby must be a powerful motivation for success at Ipswich. But they were both in a totally different era.

Can hardly blame them. I do think the fact they’ve been relentless plays a part - it almost felt that their promotion was a matter of time in the end whilst we had to become the inform team in Europe to get over the line.

I couldn’t care a less what the media have to say. Most of the mainstream stuff is rubbish, as evidenced by the Sun’s Ipswich storming out over the EFL awards nonsense the other day.

It’s between our club and supporters. I’ve no doubt Argyle supporters feel the same way. They should as their achievement is truly remarkable.

Bizarre chip? All season long on TWTD (or owlstalk for that matter) there is a thread about us. Every week of the season it was 'Plymouth will slip'. Recently it's the 'Plymouth have been so f** lucky'. Your manager then had a pop about that. Before that on here it was 'Plymouth's dodgy away form' (3rd best in the league). We've had plenty of 'Loan FC' comments. When Whittaker was recalled, there was about 15 threads on here.

So, forgive Schuey, the manager who has had to take all the brunt and pressure, for being a bit frustrated and letting off a bit of steam! Forgive Schuey for being a bit fedop of Argyle being underestimated, week in, week out. Deary me.

The irony, is that on PASOTI there's barely ever anything on Ipswich or Sheffield Wednesday.

Seems that the big clubs just can't deal with little Plymouth upsetting the applecart.

We've won 10 of the last 12. You've won 11 of the last 12.

Our recent form has been pretty exceptional also although yes your scorelines have been ridiculous.

Wasn’t the McKenna ‘having a pop’ thing spectacularly disproven the other day. Might’ve been you or one of the other argyle fans on here spouting it, but frankly it’s nonsense.

Either way congratulations on the promotion and potentially the title. You’ve been relentless, thoroughly deserve it. I’m pleased for you, your supporters generally seem like a good bunch. Look forward to playing each other again, hopefully we’ll get more than 1 point off you next season.

Partly to do with the differing styles with which both teams clinched promotion as well.

Narrow 1-0 win with the goal being a deflection, again vs a swaggering 6-0 thumping, the media were always going to get a bit of a stiffy over our promotion rather than there's under those circumstances.

Have you won a game by more than a goal margin this season ? You seem to just about do enough to scrape by which is certainly an enviable trait however the wider public focus would rightly be on ourselves who put 3-6 goals by the majority of sides in the league week in and week out , it’s an entertainment business afterall ! Also it’s 13 wins and a draw from 14 and 1 defeat to fog in 25 games I believe !

Well I'm sure it was reported within your media that he said that. It was somewhere but I'm not going to go searching for it now.

Glad we are both up. Defo Ipswich over Wednesday. Don't like Wednesday.
