Agreed.

You don't go leaving your job reporting on ITFC for the EADT if you think the paper is a good place to be right now, with everything going on at the club.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Ah! Didn't know that.

Would town TV have need of a journalist like Stu or Andy?
Thry already have people that write stories....

Would they want someone with experience of TV ?

Bacon was made redundant as they were seeking to cut costs. Quite a few people have gone from Archant in the East that way recently. Features editors were the last round just over a month ago.

Well I for one probably won't read much from Stuart Andy and the rest any more. It's a shame as I enjoy their columns particularly after a game with Stu's observations etc But I refuse to pay for it. I do hope the advertisers stop paying Newsquest when they see that thousands of "clicks" become just a few. Putting up a paywaĺl is short sighted and I can't see it working out We are so lucky to have Phil at TWTD.

Don’t think they even have an office in Ipswich anymore, mostly work from home.

I got an Ipswich Star today for the first time in ages and the quality of it is so so poor.

That's what I object to paying the £7.99 when it goes up to that.

I've paid the £3 for the first three months as I think that's alright, but the general standard of journalism in the Star and EADT in terms of the news is appalling, the news content has close to no value to me, not because I'm not interested in the local news, but because of the fact the quality of the journalism in that part of the paper is so poor.

Also what irks me is they expect us to pay 7.99 for access to everything despite the fact that the news content has little value in terms of quality, but they are happy to sell Football only coverage to Norwich fans for 1.99 a month or 19.99 per year for those at wanting it whilst giving Ipswich fans no such option.

My issue is not with the paywall at such, it's the fact that I need to pay for the whole thing when I only want the football. They allow Norwich fans to buy football only coverage but force people in Suffolk to buy the whole lot.

I expect the Norfolk first from ITV Anglia and BBC Look East, but not Newsquest.

I wonder if one of them is joining the Athletic, would make sense, they have correspondents covering the leading clubs and given our trajectory, I'm sure they'll have one soon.

I hope neither of these two are going, a great double act. Andy is so overcome with emotion in this (maybe heightened if either of them are leaving.)
Just to add, if you were there, the IFollow commentators at points were almost unable to speak, not just the score/football but the noise and energy of the crowd clearly affecting them. What an occasion, gutted to not be there.

I'm an Athletic subscriber - and think it represents good value for money - so I hope this is the case.

As it stands, they only have dedicated reporters five Championship teams. Two of whom are already confirmed as promoted. The other three teams (West Brom, Watford and some non-entity up the road) will still be there, plus the three relegated teams.

My thoughts as well - can see the Athletic expanding their pool of dedicated club journalists in the EFL and seeing the likes of Watford, West Brom, Norwich all have one you'd think Town would be fairly high on the list to cover.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Andy is a childhood fan tho isnt he. The only one of the 3 if i remember.
But even so, coving them for years must still make it emotional, even if you aren't a supporter.

The first part of you last sentence probably explains the last part.

Having said that, I have a subscription to the digital edition of the Star (to keep them going and because I like to read what is going on in a town I left 45 years ago), and it is infinitely better than the weekly paper for the town I live in (roughly a third of the size of Ipswich) which has been regionalised and has at most one article a week on my town

Good to hear. They probably realise that increased football coverage may well make the paywall a success. I hope so.

Stu and Andy's post match videos have got increasingly emotional in recent weeks (the Barnsley one being amazing), so I can't really see either of them breaking away at this stage.
