That’s the trouble, nothing really goes through their minds, well apart from ‘bantz’.

Wanting to be edgy... but just looking 50% thick, 50% scum. The fact he had to pay money to get this done... and someone agreed to do it. Just all round pathetic.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

What an idiot bleat. Politics DOES NOT come into it. You are as bad as poor old obsessed tadger.

The singing of vile songs between Man Utd and Liverpool goes both ways.

And they are sung by more than one or two 'wrong un's. Hence this scumbag feeling it was OK to wear such a 'slogan' - and evidenced by the hat he was not seriously challenged by others.

But that odes not fit the narrative, does it ? One that has football fans who clap (for a minute) on the death of anyone, are not capable of such actions, in large numbers at that. Try going to either game and see how many are singing about Munich or Hillsborough. The Fashanu song was not sung by a only handful of our lot either. Far from a handful.

You eradicate this stuff, as with homophobia and racism, by first acknowledging its behaviour. Until you do, then pious whinging is as much use a p*ssing into the wind.

"Someone agreed to do it." Has that been done unofficially or through the club?

I'm sure this will be an unpopular opinion and i agree the guy is clearly a scumbag, but wearing an offensive t-shirt shouldn't be against the law.

Are we absolutely sure that's why they were printed? It could refer to the 97 points they got in the Premier League that wasn't enough to win the title. Still not a good idea to wear it though as obviously the number 97 has a great deal of significance.

I always thought people who had " I h8 Norwich" (other rivals available for other teams) on their shirts looked stupid. This looks worse.

As people have said, not sure what goes through these thickies minds.

In principle I agree with you but I think it may depend on the context.

The offence with which he has been charged is under section 5 of the Public Order Act which reads as follows.

"A person is guilty of an offence if he–
(a) uses threatening or abusive words or behaviour, or disorderly behaviour, or
(b )displays any writing, sign or other visible representation which is threatening or abusive,
within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress thereby."

Had he been at a Man Utd v Liverpool game then it would seem to me that the latter part of the offence may well be satisfied, but that is arguably less likely to be the case at a Man Utd v City game, especially as the meaning of the T-shirt may not be obvious to all.

But it does suggest that it would be possible to be arrested and charged with an offence if walking about Ipswich with a "F8ck the Tories" T-shirt, which does seem to go too far.

Ultimately, the offence appears to leave a great deal of discretion to the police, which is not necessarily ideal.
