I was, but I was very, very drunk.
And that sketch shows how they really nailed the genre. They mixed dark with light - the episode where he sadly reminisces is genius. John Sullivan’s writing for Only Fools and Horses was just like that too at times. The contrast between sadness and laughter works really well.

It was basically a spin off from Harry Enfield, I guess most people will think these days that Fast Show was better but I remain a Harry fan tbh.
Harry would get cancelled these days.
I’d have dated them the other way round. My memory is utterly shoite. Harry Enfield was excellent though. There doesn’t seem to be anyone like him (or the Fast Show) on TV now. Nor going back a bit further to Not the Nine O’Clock News. TWTD.

I was making love to a beautiful woman only last week
Oddly enough, she talked of a fast show as well.
otherwise for those who did not see the stage show .... enjoy
Doesn't really work as live show for me, they're just wheeling out the characters for people to cheer the inevitable punchline.
The true genius of the fast show was in the name - it was fast. The shorter sketches were the best, you'd still be reeling from one daft pun when they would hit you with the next one.
Didn't they do a spin off with Sir and Ted? Once the sketches got longer and you knew what was coming it lost it's magic. Ironically akin to Colin the office vvanker, it was just a vehicle for people to quote the punchlines.
