It’s more than likely there’s going to be a lot of twists and turns, any team can beat anybody in this division and put on a run, just as teams are capable to go on losing runs.

I know the club likes to downplay the reality, but we are reaching the midway stage and we are where we are based on merit.
I wonder if Sheff Wed and Rotherham fans are saying we have 27 matches to play so we won't read too much into our league position as anything can happen?

Really? I thought staying a draw was a good result rather than a Leics win.
Thing is, we don't really know if another game is/was a good result for us until May.
Thinking back to that Barnsley/Sheff Weds game last season. A lot of people were rooting for Owls to win that. If they had, we'd have finished third! |  |

It does seem like the top 4 are out by themselves. Hopefully WBA’s money problems will disrupt them as they look good. After that there’s about 14 teams who probably think they can reach the playoffs (yes, including scum in that). Plenty more twists and turns to come. You might be right, and I hope you are to an extent, but there’s a long long way to go. Just as we might win 3 games in a row, there’s every chance we could go and lose 3 in a row.

Busy Xmas period and then the Jan transfer window seem like they’re going to be massive for us and of course the other contenders. Ideally Leeds and Leicester maybe lose a couple of their better players, we strengthen and then who knows…. | |

I don't see there is much chance we'll lose three games in a row. Barring something extraordinary like an illness sweeping the squad. Every defeat has been followed by at least a couple of wins.
We only had two draws on the trot, IMO, because we were significantly denuded on the right side (both Burns and Williams out). |  |

Did anyone notice that the top 4 all won, while the rest of the top 10 all dropped points. Any of the top 4 could finish in the top 2 and we’ve seen before what a good run can do from a team from lower down. I still fancy us to get automatic promotion but I wouldn’t put my house on it. The one thing I think about us is, we don’t seem the type of team/group say over a 5 game period where we’d win 1, draw 1 and lose 3. We seem to get over defeats really well and pick up our form straight away.
Still though, as mentioned by others, a hell of a lot of games to go. Just hope we can keep within that top 4 pack come January, and we go about our business early again like we did this January.

Wednesday could hurt Leicester in the end.
Birmingham, Wednesday and Rotherham could hurt Leeds in the end.
Norwich, Sunderland and Rotherham could hurt Southampton in the end.

If you think Southampton are competing for 2nd place they have to close an 8 point gap and dramatically improve their goal difference. Two big asks that require a major collapse in form from those above them.
By that yardstick Plymouth and Coventry are competing for promotion.
I haven’t looked at the fixtures but Town haven’t played Leicester home or away, Leeds away, Norwich…. In other words the table always lies until it doesn’t.

Re Leicester? Why? They are 1, yes 'one' point ahead of us.
All this crap regarding letting Leicester go not worrying about them doesn't make sense to me. I think Leeds are a better team than Leicester. Leeds could quite easily be ahead of us and Leicester by the end of Jan. Not saying that will happen but it could.
Personally I think more chance Ipswich will finish ahead of Leicester than Leeds. I've been much more more impressed by Leeds than I have been Leicester. And then we've got Southampton to throw into the mix. We don't need to be writing off one promotion slot already.

Crucially though, we have a 7/8 point head start on Leeds/Southampton. People need to remember all four teams are going to drop points between now and the end of the season.
