I have recently and for some reason it's making my blood boil. It's only £40 but I should've looked at the reviews. They are horrendous. Saw a jacket I liked for supposedly half price. Never came and after 3 weeks the company actually started the refund process with PayPal. After 4 days PayPal cancelled the refund as the funds weren't forthcoming. It's not the money that makes me angry but the mere fact this company is able to advertise when it clearly isn't telling the truth. It seems by the reviews there must be hundreds with rhe same problems. Shoddy goods, goods not arriving etc. Avoid MUSE.London at all costs. Anyone got some other stories about nightmare companies?

Wanted to plant some bushes so went online and found a great deal with 6 potted bushes ready to go, ordered em and when they arrived were 2 inches high, not what I was expecting.

The other one that annoyed was a map of America that was about 5 inches by 3. I had kind of expected it to unfold and have a bit more detail.

Put em both down to experience but for sure, interweb shopping gives sellers lots of opportunity to mislead gullible buyers like me.

Last Minute. I used to book with them quite frequently but they failed to tell us and seemingly many other customers that a hotel we'd booked in Bristol was closed. Other agents had told their customers. They refunded most of the money but kept around £40 as that was their part of the fee. I should have taken them to the Small Claims Court. Still makes me cross three years later.
It turns out they were taken over several years ago and are no longer the firm they once were.
Regardless of the price, I'll never use them again.

My elderly relatives have been done for £30k for a new roof they didn’t need, and the cowboy has left it so a real roofer will need to spend another £14k actually putting a new roof on. Since we’ve got involved we’ve sorted police, Action Fraud, banks and trading standards now but that moneys almost certainly long gone. Scum.

had a leaflet through the door and soon had a guy quoting me a silly price for a new door, took me about 2 hours to get him out of my house. Told a neighbor and he shared that the same bloke had been at another elderly neighbors house too that afternoon.

Went straight round and turned out he had written a cheque for over 5k for a new door that was to be installed in a few weeks. We managed to get the cheque cancelled but fck me these people are scum. Targeting the most vulnerable in society to make easy money.

They just stay on the right side of the law so not much can be done, other than warning people who might be vulnerable.

I can see how people are tempted to pinch a few quid, second home overseas, a nice yacht or whatever, but $27Bn ffs?

I saw Muse.London advertised on Instagram and quite liked the look of one of the shirts. As I'd never heard of the company before I did about 2mins worth of digging and realised it was pretty dodgy. Google lens is really handy in these cases. Just search on Lens for the item that you're looking to buy and see what else comes up. Turned out there were 3 or 4 other dodgy companies all selling the same shirt I was looking to buy. They all had the same web page layout, reviews etc

Go Skippy. Last week I called to cancel my current insurance - two months left to run but I have got rid of the car and will take my time finding a replacement.

£75 cancellation/admin fee cancelled out any premium I might have been due back.

Only thing I got caught out with was around this time of year on a site advertised on facebook (i know!) selling toys and they had one I wanted for my son for CHristmas at a reduced price to everywhere else.

Bought it in November, didn't hear anything, then the website suddenly wasn't working, no contact details etc.

Thankfully bought it on a credit card and got fully refunded. Lesson learnt. Do your research and look for reviews (though at the time I looked on the facbook post and lots were positive). ALso There is a website that can tell you how recently the website was set up. If recently its probably not good........!

Be really careful if ordering clothing from some of these "Instagram" businesses. Always worth doing a bit of research first as you'll generally find an answer pretty quickly. I made the mistake of ordering a jacket once off something that was promoted to me on Insta (idiot). Marketing materials all looked legit and the clothing looked very nice, what eventually arrived after about 3 weeks was clearly some cheap rubbish from AliExpress.

I sell vintage and antiques on Etsy - eBay for Waitrose people, basically.

I get the occasional attempt to scam me by claiming it wasn't delivered which is why I now send everything signed for because tracking info doesn't always get completed.

I had one customer in America claiming a £125 carved oak barometer wasn't delivered even though tracking said it was. After I pointed this out and asked if they wanted me to contact their local police station, they went strangely silent...

One of the current Etsy cons is crappy Temu jewellery being sold as handmade at a 100x markup.

I’m surprised googling “6 potted bushes ready to go” didn’t take you to some eastern European porn site.

I found out last night that £99.99 went out of my account to Norton (the antivirus company). Contacted the credit card, it appears that this has been taken every year for the 6 years since I bought my laptop. It came with Norton AV free for 3 months. They never asked me if I wanted to continue (I didn't). But apparently, you have to actively opt out, or it gets automatically charged to the card you bought the laptop with. I have had no messages form Norton during this time. And you can't cancel it with the credit card company, as its a subscription you have to contact the company and cancel the subscription. If any of you have bought a computer with "Free AV for 3 months", check carefully on your statements.

Going back a few years now i bought a Saab cabriolet. Gorgeous looking car. The mistake I made was not looking at it properly. Cant recall exactly what I paid for it. However drove it home and it really flew, it was tubo charged. Anyway I still had my old car which sold around a week later so the Saab wasn't used. I started using the Saab and after 4 days the engine management light came on and there was a knocking noise from the engine. The seller didn't want to know. Being a private sale you don't have the same cover as buying from a dealer. I took it to my local garage and after some investigation it turned out to be the big end . Apparently Saab's of that particular model have an inline filter and if that gets blocked it causes parts to rub together because they aren't lubricated. Turned out I needed an engine rebuild. But there's worse to come. The garage said they would try and source an engine and I said I would do likewise. I found a company think they were called something like Engines and Gearbox's. They said they had an engine for £1,200 with 30,000 miles on it. Stupidly I paid by bank transfer. Arranged for it to be delivered to my local garage. After a week I got a phone call from my garage " Better come and look at this engine" , no way had it 30,000 mile on it. Basically a pile of trash. Phone the Company and told them to pick it up, return it and send me another one. A week passed and another phone call from my garage. The same engine had been sent back to them. Called the Company and said come and collect it and give me my money back. Yes, they collected it, but I never got my money back despite numerous phone calls. This Company then came on tv's Rogue Traders. The engine that had come out of my Saab was rebuilt and I believe the total loss to me was around three times what I paid for the car in the first place. Think it turned out this Engine and Gearbox lot were getting engines from a scrap yard in Liverpool. One poor lady who used them had sent here car to them to have a new engine fitted. After weeks and weeks of phoning she was finally told to collect her car. She didn't even get home before it broke down.

I got a new phone earlier this year and had my old Samsung Ultra to sell which was in pristine condition. Went on some comparison site for phone recycling and some company called Handtec Solutions offered the best price of about £250. So I went with them, sent the phone carefully packaged. A few days later i get an email from them saying the phone is damaged and they were revising my offer to £100. They said it had a cracked rear glass and deep scratches on the frame. I replied that the phone I'd sent them was in practically new condition and asked for photos. They sent some pictures of a damaged Samsung Ultra like mine but this thing was filthy and in knackered condition. It clearly wasnt my phone, but some knackered old thing they'd just took photos of and sent. I was annoyed because before using them I'd checked their TrustPilot reviews and they were mostly good (Probably fake ones I expect). On further investigation, I discovered other review sites where the reviews were more realistic and I read many people had been scammed in the same way. After some haggling I got them to up the offer to £150 and took that. I didnt want them to send the phone back as they were obviously rogues so would have either deliberately damaged my phone before returning it or sent me some other one that was knackered. Had the last laugh though as immediately after the funds landed in my account, I contacted my provider and reported the phone stolen and had it blocked so they wouldnt be able to sell it on to anyone!

It's almost impressive to got hold of that much money. But they are going to kill her so it's swings and roundabouts.
