Cameron Humphreys 17:00 - Jan 1 with 7580 views | Churchman | Earned Wycombe a penalty to win the game and take them to the top of L1. Is it worth bringing him back and plonking him in our midfielder as a starter or is it better for him to carry on tearing up L1?

Cameron Humphreys on 17:07 - Jan 1 with 5189 views | NeedhamChris | Feels a bit of a ridiculous suggestion tbh, clearly nowhere near the level of a PL starter. Are there any other League 1 players you'd sign to put straight into the starting lineup of a PL team? Louis Barry is ripping it up at Stockport, maybe he's the answer to more goals too.

I know the gap between the lower leagues and PL is huge, but we’ve seen one or two of our current squad bridge it and I just wondered if he could provide the impetus/legs our midfield needs. He’s had a cracking season and is probably better off seeing the season through there. Have to say Matt Bloomfield has done a brilliant job there. Future ITFC manager if/when McKenna moves on?

He's absolutely loved, inside the club and by fans. If they come up, I'd fully expect them to make us an offer. The club is well-backed and he's clearly enjoying his football. It might suit him to push for a move if he's not given assurances here.

Just throwing it out there. He’s a terrific talent and it was very much a suggestion assuming the options out there are limited or non existent at the price we are willing and able to pay. Personally, I think for the player a complete season at Wycombe would be more beneficial. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Cameron Humphreys on 18:03 - Jan 1 with 4660 views | LegendofthePhoenix | He's suffered from always being a step behind the progression of ITFC. Maybe the best thing is to recall him and loan him to a Championship team if he is guaranteed minutes in the Champ, so that wherever we are playing next year, he has had half a season of Championship football.

Why the emphasis on ‘international’ and ‘ex international’? If that’s the criteria, let’s see if Matt Holland or John Wark can dig their boots out of the loft. Humphreys was a suggestion for discussion, not a definitive answer. I have given my view on it. If you believe our midfield isn’t a problem, I suggest you give Mick Mills a ring. No, he hasn’t suggested terminating Humphreys loan but he does believe we need strengthening in midfield regardless of our ‘internationals or ex-internationals’.

Sadly whilst an absolute club legend, Mick Mills is a terrible pundit and not one I'd be quoting as an expert.

For me, keep him where he is, see if he helps them to promotion, then loan him again next season to them in the championship. let him develop with them, whilst being contracted to us, if he succeeds he will either become ready for us, or we can sell him for a big chunk of profit.

Would surprise me if we'd sell him or that he'd want to join a League One club regardless of how well he's doing or how well he might like it there. I wonder whether we might look to move him up a level if we can - and he's up for it - but Kieran said we're happy for him to stay there and play when I asked him. I can’t disagree with that, but I think he’s got a point about our midfield though.
Cameron Humphreys on 18:21 - Jan 1 with 4457 views | LeoMuff | Whose place would he take ? Not going to dislodge anyone even from the bench. Might be an option as back up in the championship if we go down, but I’m not sure on wether he is good enough for a top2 champ squad. Regular game time definitely right for him, then a crack at the championship next season.

Feels like the risk would outweigh the benefit on that for me. Yes he would be playing at a higher level, but he's getting a lot of minutes at the moment and clearly doing well. It would be a shame if he went to a Championship club and sat on the bench. That has to be the next move in the summer though surely, unless we are the Championship club by then.

Thanks for that. Looks like he will be staying where he is this season and if he’s happy, they’re happy and he is getting regular games and the experience that goes with that, fair enough.

I guess it depends how many signings we want to make. Personally it's a bit lower down the priority list for me. I'd have a RB/RW and a Striker on my list well above strengthening the middle of the park. At best I suppose you might look for an upgrade on Jack Taylor but I'd say he's better than Humphrey's at this moment in time.

Yes, I think that's how they view it and it's difficult to disagree unless they got significant assurances he'd play regularly, which might be difficult for a Championship club to do. Wouldn't surprise me if clubs showed interest though. Oxford might be one with Scott Mitchell, who recruited him to Wycombe, now working there. But I think he will probably end up staying at Wycombe for the season and he'll be in the Championship one way or another next year. He was at the Chelsea game, incidentally, had a brief hello with him before kick-off.

Its very much a data driven club, so unless it stacks up on that side, they wouldn't do a perm deal.

The way the season is going for them, they may not be a League one side for much longer. You'll know better than I, but what's his contractual situation with us?
