Rooney has left Plymouth.... (n/t) on 10:01 - Dec 31 with 3285 views | NthQldITFC | I hope they get a good one next and get out of trouble. We may have had our spats, but they're a club I like, not least because of the Paul Mariner connection. If they can stay up and send the budgies down that would be ideal - I just hope that Delia has shelled out for a BTec PHP developer to get the dear old OinkUn back online by then to give me some perverse and unhealthy pleasure.

Rooney has left Plymouth.... (n/t) on 10:05 - Dec 31 with 3205 views | Marshalls_Mullet | I actually feel sorry for him. He doesnt need the money, he clearly loves football and wants to be a success as a manager. Unfortunately, its seems thats not going to happen. Maybe he would be better off being part of someones coaching team.

Rooney has left Plymouth.... (n/t) on 10:14 - Dec 31 with 3103 views | SuperKieranMcKenna | Time for him to stop cosplaying as a football manager. Amazing that a minority on here were arguing that’s he was a vixtim of circumstances rather than incompetent. Coleen could have done a better job.
Rooney has left Plymouth.... (n/t) on 10:30 - Dec 31 with 3012 views | ringwoodblue | Great footballer in his time but he’s clearly not a good manager/coach. His big name status will not keep getting him jobs as his managerial record continues to go from bad to worse. I can’t even see him as a TV pundit as he has zero personality.

A good chance you would assume. Although I forget if he left on good terms.
Rooney has left Plymouth.... (n/t) on 10:52 - Dec 31 with 2882 views | baxterbasics | Surely that's got to be the end of him being hired for any serious managerial roles. If he wants to do it right, he needs to get himself properly trained as a coach and work from the ground up. (though admittedly I am unaware what training/badges he has already done, but it doesn't seem enough). This to me is what has made KM so effective for us. His early retirement from playing means he's had proper long term development and a career as a coach at various levels before taking the top job. Players like Rooney think they can just retire and go straight in to management, and more often than not they fail in the modern game.

Agree. He was a great footballer but to believe he can really do anything in the wider game is just unfair on him after his exploits into management and punditry. He might make a great scout or something. I believe Scowie did this for Palace but is a kind of lone ranger, Queen of the South on a Tuesday night kind of gig.

Its rare than anyone as stupid as Rooney can be a good manager to be fair. He got a bit of a tune out of a poor Derby squad initially to his credit, but that might've been more reputational and them wanting to prove themselves to a fantastic player. After that initial bump its been downhill ever since and some of the stories about his conduct at Birmingham are staggering. When you think of the profile of a good manager he doesn't strike me as having any of the attributes tbh. He's often spoken about in a similar breath to Lampard but I can at least see how Lampard could be somewhat engaging.

Tough for someone to turn it around from where they are too. He'll probably yet manage to talk himself into another job with another star struck owner but might have to drop down to do it.

Lampard got over a 150 IQ score years ago. It's an interesting comparison. I think both were tremendous players but a manger is a totally different skill set, even more so in the modern game. It's like saying a zoo keeper would make a good butcher. Gary Neville spoke quite well about his time at Valencia. He spoke about how difficult it is to see the game from the dugout versus the gantry. He spoke about how Spanish managers in LaLiga would make really subtle tactical changes constantly and he just didn't know what was going on.

This is totally it. The great managers relentlessly study the game and learn. They look at the best past and present, then they implement new ideas and try to adapt as they learn. Wayne’s probably still figuring out which one is Tinky Winky and which one is Po.

I don’t think many would have the drive and commitment to put in the huge workload required when you are worth £140m. I bet Kmc works a scary amount of hours and family barely see him, that sort of drive takes someone special. Rooney has been pictured out at all hours in town just not the sort of look for your manager really.

Rooney has left Plymouth.... (n/t) on 12:21 - Dec 31 with 2399 views | WeWereZombies | It may just have been drafted by a PR assistant but his leaving words are not unkind: 'On his departure from Plymouth Argyle, Wayne Rooney said: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank the board of Plymouth Argyle Football Club, in particular Simon Hallett and Neil Dewsnip, who I shared great relationships with. "Thanks also to all the staff who made me feel welcome and who make the club such a special place, the players and fans for their efforts and support during my time as head coach and I wish them all the best for the future. "To the Green Army - thanks for making the games at Home Park so special, they are memories that we will share forever. "I would also like to give a special mention to my coaching staff Kevin Nancekivell, Simon Ireland, Darryl Flahavan and Mike Phelan for their knowledge, dedication, help and support. "Plymouth Argyle will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will continue to look out for and take interest in their results."' https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/ce8np8rejljt?page=2 @ 09:59 this monring

I don't see your post as insulting to QoS in any way. They are the only Scottish team I support - for family connection reasons.
