Delap to Arsenal 13:06 - Feb 3 with 5941 views | BlacknGoldnBlue | Tim Sherward on Sky Sports saying Arsenal should get Delap. Thinks £40m would get him and he'd be able to impact Arsenal now and develop under Arteta going forward to provide a sticker solution for the future. He says £40m is peanuts for Arsenal but thinks if we let him go we'd be acknowledging relegation. TO be clear.. He didn't say this was going to happen or either in discussion but he did think it would be a no brainier.

Delap to Arsenal on 13:07 - Feb 3 with 4808 views | ElderGrizzly | It would be a no brainer if we would even contemplate selling at £40m. We won't of course, so it is entirely pointless.
Delap to Arsenal on 13:09 - Feb 3 with 4729 views | Vaughan8 | I think Ipswich are not going to sell him. I don't think relegation isn't going to drop his value at all, so may as well keep him for now unless a silly £80m+ offer comes in (and we have some sort of replacement!)

Serious question… in the summer; if we’ve gone down, what price do you think we get for him? (My estimate £30m) If we stay up, what price do you think we get for him? (No guess as I don’t think we stay up)

What's the benchmark? Duran just gone for £71m. Delap will probably have double figures, goals wise, and has shown he is very capable at this level - so even if we go down £40m to £60m. If we stay up, then gotta be pushing £70m. If Chelsea buy him, then £90m.

£30 million? It’s not 2005. In the summer, Delap will become one of the most sought after strikers in Europe - and yes, regardless of whether we stay up or go down, I think that he’ll be off in the summer. In the worst case scenario and we are relegated, I don’t think that this will result in Delap going for next-to-nothing (by todays standards) as a lot of clubs will be after him. And not just in this country. A bidding war will kickoff with the final sum being well over £60 million.

He will be sold back to Man City for whatever they agreed in the original deal which won’t be much more than we paid. They will sell him on for massive profit.

Southampton sold Lavia for £58m after they were relegated - doesn't automatically mean a player's value is halved. Would be gutted to lose him for less than £50m.

I take what he says about as seriously as Sutton! Sherwood also said his value wouldnt drop at the summer if we go down so why would we sell now - lol And £40m is below what he will be sold for eventually, and I am not convinced he'll go summer
Delap to Arsenal on 13:31 - Feb 3 with 3901 views | SitfcB | Reading between the lines I think he can’t go anywhere this window even if we wanted to sell, which we don’t. At a guess whatever the clause is with Man City means they’ll get first dibs and at another guess there was a clause that meant it couldn’t be done this window. We will have effectively had him for a very expensive season long loan by the time he’s sold back to City in the summer.

Delap to Arsenal on 13:42 - Feb 3 with 3484 views | Jrm_72 | I can't believe we've 'Cameron Archer'd' the deal to make it an expensive season long loan. However, and I hope I'm wrong, but I can see him going for far less than we all expect. I think he is brilliant, but I wonder if he doesnt have enough on the proverbial top level highlight reel yet to command the fees we are dreaming of. Marcus Stewart had a great first premiership season, Kelvin Davies, Michael Ricketts etc etc (I think Delap is better than all three obviously) and none had a huge money move after. And also...Richard Wright went for far less money than expected with a far greater body of worth. Like I said, hope I'm wrong.

Debunked? Where? NOBODY KNOWS the details of the contract that was signed - it was never published. SSN claimed there was a 20% sell-on clause. TWTD also mentioned a buy-back clause was understood to be included. Remember also, the claimed figure we bought at was 15M, plus addons which no doubt haven't been triggered yet.

An English striker who's 21 with likely double digit goals in the PL, not a chance he goes for 30m. It's fairly obvious with other teams struggles just how difficult it is to sign a striker so I'd guess a minimum of 45m, but could quire easily be 60m.

No you havn’t missed anything. Just another negative poster who refuses to believe that they have one. Clause is rumoured to be £30mil, and has been mentioned by most Manchester City linked journo’s inc Fabrizio and the Man City mouthpiece on talksport stefan something. I would assume could only be triggered from next summer but hope it doesn’t exist. Just too much chat about it to believe it’s fake news, and Ashton would have come out and confirmed if it didn’t exist.

There's as much proof out there that it exists as there is that it doesn't. Didn't Ashton laugh it off? And I'm sure Phil has intimated that it's more of a Philogene situation where they can essentially match a fee with a 20% discount. There is simply no way on earth any football club signs a player for £20m and puts a £30m buyback in the deal.
