I would be delighted if he proves me wrong. I’ve seen nothing to suggest he’ll be of value, but IF he can get the energy levels back that he had in the lower leagues AND up his quality to Championship level, then he could be a real asset against tiring defenders. It sounds like he could be making steps in that direction. |  |

Trouble is he is at an age where he needs more regular game time to develop. I don't think we would necessarily get a better third choice striker than him, though. [Post edited 19 Jul 18:22]

Really rotten takes on him last season. Hes still very young and raw and clearly the Prem was a step far for him him in a struggling team.
But he's got real qualities and eye for goal. Started this half very well and got his goal. I'd keep him and get one more unless a good offer over £2 mil. No way I would be selling him for less than a good profit. | |

But he did well carrying an injury before with 4 goals. How can that be nothing?! I could understand if you only watched him in the Prem. He struggled (not the only one).
He's also just shown why he can be of value this half already.
Can we get better. Yes. And think we will sign one better. But we can save ourself several million as I think he's more than good cover in the champ in an attacking side. | |

I mean we sent him on loan once we had enough forwards fit, he isn’t good enough for the standard of a parachute club at the top end of the league, did he even really impress for Stoke? For his career he’d need to move as he won’t be getting much playing time as a third striker.
We are are level or two above him at the moment with the progress we made. | | | |

We were a top attacking team, I remember he scored in games we destroyed the opposition, pen at Millwall, tap in’s against Wednesday (in another mauling) and got a foot on a Davis effort before missing an important penalty against Bristol. We all want the lad to do well but wouldn’t exactly say he was a major contributor, we should be looking at better proven quality in case we need it. I think you make decent points but we should be even more dominant this half. He did impress for Stoke when they did ok. Their fans all wanted him signed up first 5-6 games. Went off boil but Stoke were awful and created nothing.
I think with our side and style in this division he will be fine off bench (if we need him). I would be having Hirst and one top striker signing. (Rather then two decent).
Don't get me wrong if we get two top strikers in then all good. He goes out on loan or sold if the money right. Just feel it's fine if he's 3rd striker in the squad. I won't be unhappy. | |

This is where im at. Some of the vitriol towards him has been unnecessary and unpleasant, and says a lot about the people doing it, but he's looked below the level needed since he got here.
