If they in any way used ITFC to promote this. Wearing a Farage town shirt for example that is when it crosses the line in to a border line partnership. This is the clear issue here. It feels like ITFC have started a partnership with reform. They haven't, but that is what the optics are. | |

Thanks, in my view that is a very reasonable, rational response. Whilst I wasn’t trying to make a point I have been perplexed by some of the outrage I’ve read online. Maybe this question will help get to the root of some of it to those of us who whilst not happy with what has gone on are surprised by the reaction (and despite the vocal minority on here and elsewhere I think that’s a sizeable chunk of our fanbase). | |

But this in turn gets to another key point overlooked by those who aren't bothered. You talk about it being an unspecified vocal minority over reacting, but there didn't need to be any split in the fan base. That's almost the entire point. Whatever your views on him the vast majority agree that Farage is a controversial, divisive political figure, for good or bad. So just politely decline, or politely distance yourself as a club from any politics and controversy if it's a private unknown event.
People saying it's only a vocal minority, or similar, who are bothered miss that there didn't need to be anyone bothered at all, instead there are easily thousands of fans who have been at the very least annoyed or perplexed by this whole affair. |  | | |

Politics aside I'm angry that the club has got itself into an avoidable mess, ruined it's reputation as a friendly, welcoming club amongst many neutrals, annoyed lots of its own fans (and possibly sponsors), become a laughing stock, handled the PR fallout amateurishly and dishonestly at a crucial time of the season. I asked the question as I am trying to get a better understanding of the issues (there is a spectrum of negative opinion, it’s not one “issue” with all those speaking out against it having an identical view).
