Civelli In Reserves at Stevenage
Civelli In Reserves at Stevenage
Wednesday, 27th Oct 2010 10:14

Midfielder Luciano Civelli will get another game under his belt this evening when the reserves face Stevenage at Broadhall Way (KO 7pm). Manager Roy Keane says the Argentinian is still to show that he’s ready for a first team recall after 18 months out with a multi-ligament knee injury.

Keane said: “Luca will be at Stevenage, like one or two of the young boys and lads coming back from injury. We keep saying we want to give lads a game based on merit and Luca is still playing catch-up, which is understandable because he’s been out for so long.

“But he’s getting more training sessions under his belt and getting more games under his belt and he’ll get another one at Stevenage.”

Bermudian winger Reggie Lambe is likely to be in the side having missed yesterday’s Carling Cup tie, while Alan Quinn may not be involved having been back in Ireland due to a family matter. Quinn had been down to make his first appearance for the reserves since injuring his groin in the pre-season friendly at Leiston.

Jamie Griffiths, who made his first team debut in last night's Carling Cup victory over Northampton, Shane O'Connor and Luke Hyam are also set to be involved.

So far this season Chris Kiwomya’s side have won one, drawn one and lost two and sit in fifth in the http://full-time.thefa.com/ProcessPublicSelect.do?psSelectedSeason=4807168&psSel Football Combination East Division.

Personally, and I hope I am wrong, I don't think we will see Civelli play in an Ipswich shirt again.

Personally, I think we will see him in a Town shirt again. At 7.00pm tonight.

I don't think he will ever make another first team appearance, the problem is I doubt our insurers will payout as his knee is actually fine now.

It might be an idea to try and send him out on loan for a bit? I hope we see him again and his recovery will be a long drawn out affair due to being out for 18 months.

If we think Martin and Priskin are not value for money then Civelli must be top of the league.
1.1 Million and then his wages plus medical treatment all for 8 games.

Great shame as he looked to be a very good player. Fingers crossed for the lad that he has some better luck and then hopefully he can replace Townsend when we have to let him go back to Tottenham

Spot on Bluelady - O'Connor should have been warmed up for Saturday last night instead of playing Smith out of position. Play like we did last night at the back against Millwall then we will lose. Full backs were so poor.

I'm waiting for tge headline: Ipswich cancel contract of cavelli. I don't want it to happen, however I think it's getting more likely each week!

Must have been one of the unluckiest players in terms of the number of injuries he has had.
