Holy: It Was a Privilege
Monday, 9th May 2022 11:06

Departing keeper Tomas Holy says it has been a privilege to have worn the Town shirt and that he has been very lucky to play for such a huge club.

Holy, 30, is among the out-of-contract players to have been told he will not be offered new terms this summer having joined the Blues on a free transfer after leaving Gillingham in the summer of 2019.

“Here it is, my time in Ipswich has officially come to an end. It’s been a wonderful adventure full of ups and certainly some downs,” he wrote on Instagram.

“I enjoyed every bit of being a part of this football club, where I've met a lot of great people around the place, worked under great managers, with fantastic coaches and damn talented players.

“Thank you Ipswich Town for an opportunity and for all memories. I’m very lucky that I had a chance to play for such a huge club and in front of fans like you. It was a privilege to pull this shirt on every time I could, and I always tried to give my best. Thank you for all your support you gave me. 🫶🏻

“The whole organisation is in good hands and heading the right direction towards success and where it belongs. I wish you all only the best and I hope I'll see you soon again. I’ll miss you a lot. Uppa Town.”

The 6ft 9in tall Czech, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Port Vale having had a short spell at Cambridge earlier in the campaign, made 65 appearances for Town, only three in 2021/22, all in cups. He kept 28 clean sheets during his time with the Blues.

Always came across as such a lovely guy, great character to have around and he put in some really good performances at times. Will always remember him for the save from Jacobson's penalty that should never have been given. A half decent League One keeper for me, but when you look at Walton and what this club can attract, it's easy to see why Holy isn't for us. Too inconsistent and often really rattled for a while after a mistake. Hope he finds a good home somewhere and becomes their number 1.

Best wishes, Tomas. Your passion and commitment to the club have never been doubted. Thanks for being a loyal servant. Go forward and get the number 1 shirt somewhere!

Model pro, seems like a really nice guy who always gave his all. Have also loved his media bits, him and Norwood being interviewed by some school kids a couple of years back was really funny and lived long in the memory.

Good luck in the future Tomas.

If we could keep Holy around just for personality I'd give him another 3 year deal!! A very enthusiastic and likeable player but not quite the calibre of player we need, like everyone I wish him all the best wherever his future takes him, thank you and good bye Tomas.

Times seems like such a lovely man, of all the players to have worn the shirt there aren't many who I have wanted to see succeed here as much as the big man.

Hope he gets game time wherever he goes.

Just needed a bit more consistency and he'd make a great backup keeper. Top class fella always seemed to be a fan as well as a player. Look forward to seeing him as an opposition player.

Always came across as a real genuinely, nice fella and I wish him well with his next footballing move. Although his stats stand up well for us, the difference between Walton and Holy's goalkeeping ability is night and day. We need that dependable pair of hands to get us to that next level and that's what Walton provides. Good luck Tomas and thank you for all your hard work over the last few seasons.

I can never forget the passion that Holy showed in his first few months here, genuinely thought we'd landed a long term option. Appreciated his effort while it lasted

Unlucky to have played for Ipswich during a pretty poor time & having to keep behind defenders like Chambers.
I rate the Wycombe penalty save as one of the best seen at PR

Class act...deserves to be a first choice keeper somewhere - hope he can find a club that's a good fit (28 clean sheets in 65 games wasn't too shabby either)

Always came across as a lovely guy with a great attitude, a gentle giant. My son had Holy on the back of his Ipswich goalie shirt (the grey one) the season we first signed him. Best wishes Tomas, I'm sure you'll do well in the future.

If his GK skills matched his likability he'd be playing for Liverpool..still think he would've be a decent No.2 here.

Good luck Tomas 👍🏻

Wish Tomas all the best in the future...okay GK but not quite the quality we need but better than Hldaky in my opinion.

Who does not like this guy. And to be fair, without the new owners/project, about as good as you would hope for in League 1, but as others have stated, Walton has raised the bar now so there is not turning back. Nevertheless, I still wonder if he was in a better Town team, would his confidence have built and he nailed down the 1 shirt? We will never know so thanks Tomas and sincerely, the very best of luck for the future. One of the good guys.
