Town Rebuff El Mizouni Bids
Friday, 5th Jan 2024 15:49

Town have rebuffed a number of low six-figure bids for midfielder Idris El Mizouni, who is currently on loan with League One Leyton Orient.

According to the EADT, League One quartet Barnsley, Bolton Wanderers, Oxford United and Wycombe Wanderers, who TWTD first revealed were keen on the Tunisian international in January 2022, have all had offers turned down by the Blues, who it’s understood would be willing to sell the 23-year-old at the right price during this window.

In addition to those four, we understand Derby, who we revealed in May were keen on the Paris-born schemer along with a number of other sides, continue to keep a watching brief.

El Mizouni is in his second season on loan at Orient with his Town contract up in the summer but with the Blues having an option for a further season.

Elsewhere, we understand Charlton Athletic, another of the clubs keen on El Mizouni in the summer, have joined Oxford in showing interest in former Blues forward Armando Dobra, now with Chesterfield.

The Albanian U21 international’s contract with Town was terminated by mutual consent in the summer of 2022.

This 1 baffles me. Why don't we give this lad a go?

@Jameslboon - who would you drop to allow him to play? Is ahead or Morsy and Luongo? Is he ahead of Taylor and Ball?

Jameslboon . Simple, he's not good enough for what we require. And I don't mean any offence to him by that. But its no coincidence that its only lge1 teams bidding for him

What I don't understand is why we don't let him go - with a decent % sell-on fee. Would be best to accept a low-ish up-front offer, get his wages out of the door, and then reap the benefit if he kicks on.

Not really sure what happened with Dobra but I’m sure there’s a sell on or something. No way would we terminate the contract of a guy who showed so much promise and who Brighton bid for a year before

It sounds like there are quite a lot of clubs interested, so that should push the price up. Obviously we should be selling him because a player who can't get in the team in League One is not going to get in the team at the top of the Championship or even in the Premier League.

Would love to see him back here to be honest. His defensive statistics are ridiculously good, he's very technically gifted and he has the athleticism to break lines.

El Miz is a great player tbh but I think we don’t always appreciate how much this club has progressed and as good as he is I don’t think he’d stand scrutiny in this current team.

We just want the best price we can get , and why not!

He's probably on par with most of the fringe players at the club but that's an area we need to improve on clearly after evidence of the QPR game Humphreys aside one of our better players on the night.

He would be a squad player here and we have enough of them. Hanging out for the right price is fine, as long as that right price comes along. I would whack a 25% sell on clause and let the lad progress his career.

He's developing nicely, surely he's worth more than whatever these bids are?

We are looking at £100 - 250k I guess, probably lower than 250k?
