My wife and I attended the Reykjavik Gay Pride a few years ago. The whole city turns out to cheer the floats, all generations. The "Gay Scouts of Iceland" had their own float, and wore rainbow scout scarves. Many of the shops had rainbow flags or posters up in their windows. A really supportive community, and a very mature, confident culture. |  | | |

I stumbled upon one in Warsaw last month, slightly surprised given Poland's turn to the right in recent years but, again, phenomenal attendance and, with the exception of some para-military looking goons playing some, presumably, derogatory tape loop from loudspeakers (they couldn't even be bothered to employ a loudhailer and their own voices), it all looked very good natured. I even stayed and watched for a quarter of an hour or so. |  |
