Snoring issues 11:37 - Dec 15 with 9866 viewsunbelievablue

My girlfriend snores. It's terrible. It reminds me of one of Abellio's older locomotives, chuntering and spluttering through the hours of the night. Occasionally she slows down and quietens as if through an area of speed restriction, or even stopping entirely as if held at one of those provincial stations in South Essex. But then, inevitably, the hope is gone and with a snort and a rattle, the noise mercilessly begins again, the figurative train cannoning over sleepers (grrr) with the occasional arbitrary horn (cough) spoiling any consistent rhythm. At one point on this expedition through the land of nod, typically around 2am, she finally seems to settle on a 'comfortable' flow, as if passing Colchester and suddenly she's the 'non-stopping service' to London Liverpool Street and I've HOURS of this cacophonic cadence to deal with until the assuaging bliss of my radio alarm.

Er, anyway, any tips? It's worse when she's been drinking.

Get her to sleep on her side*.

*Because of the orientation of your stomach, it's best to sleep on your left side.

EDIT: BTW, girls don't snore.

She might be suffering from sleep apnoea. If so, she needs to get some medical advice.

Lady Lucan is a nightmare. I do find though that it's worse when she is lying on her back and a quick nudge to get her on her side does seem to help.

Once they have woken a bit and turned round you have 8 minutes to get to sleep before they start snoring again. If they don't wake up then just get your todger out and threaten some sex action, that will make them shift.

Mr PW had similar issues but the problem has been greatly reduced by me using a sinus rinse before bed (although not normally a remedy for snoring). It's harmless, so maybe worth a try.

I am consigned to the sofa lately for the same reason, and we think it is sleep apnea but I have been stalling on going to the docs. I know what it means, a flipping sleep study.

Mine was so obnoxious I had an op on my nose. I now have a constantly running nose and sniff every 5 seconds without noticing I'm doing it. I think Mrs Throbbe would happily have the snoring back.

Since I've been a lot more active my snoring has got better (apparently), so may be a lifestyle thing that can be done to improve it - although that isn't much help for you.

I used to have to sleep on my side as was quieter then (again apparently)

A hammer on the nightstand, just as motivation to not snore, works wonders.

I wouldn't go down that street, for a start you will have to give up driving until you are given a machine to help your breathing, then you need to have a verified history of using the machine, before you can get your licence back!

She's ludicrously active - think it might be something to do with her room as never have the issue to the same degree at my place.
