It was "Amazing Grace" by the Pipes & Drums of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. My mother had asked for a request to be played for me at Portman Road for the Ipswich vs Manchester City game on the day of my 14th birthday. She asked for something else, but they played this instead. Ironic that it should become an Ipswich anthem soon after.
BTW we beat Man City 2-1 to end their title hopes. I'll never forget the EADT report the next day which began "Brilliant, brilliant Ipswich Town...." I wonder if that has ever been printed again!
