Colorado Rapids sack their manager... 23:00 - May 2 with 5509 viewsitfcjoe

....former NZ manager Anthony Hudson who took Tommy Smith out there with him.

Wonder if this will spell the end of Tommy’s spell there? Wouldn’t surprise me if he is training with us in pre season

If he is fit he would be great to have in L1.

I would love Tommy Smith back at Town.

In fact, I’m begging Tommy Smith to come back to Ipswich Town.

Yep, think that level would suit his physicality - and gives us that left/right balance

Will only have half a year left on his contract as well. Current deal expires December. Becomes a free agent as of January 1st.

Surely we have to bring him back.

If we got him we would still need another 10 Tommy Smiths...

I'm no fan of resigning former players (Warky excepted) but I think Tommy Smith would be a great asset in league 1 ... Will always pop up with the odd goal too.

Still bemused as to why we just let him go when we did, as a perfectly competent Championship centre back.

I think his mobility was beginning to be shown up a little bit in this league, but different ball game in League 1

If MLS contracts are anything like the other American sports then it wouldn't surprise me if he is 'cut' (i.e. released) before the end of that deal too if a new man comes in and wants his own international players of which there is a limit

Is there a transfer window as such in the MLS? I must admit their draft/transfer system somewhat confuses me.

I'd love it, which is sad considering I wasn't torn up about him leaving. Then again it was his decision and Mick probably couldn't justify keeping him to sit on the bench.

That and the persistent back injuries. They probably would prevent him playing twice a week on a very regular basis.

It's ok, Mick has gone now and we no longer have any persistent injury problems & never will again.

According to most on here, it’s Woolfy and Corrie next season.
There’s no chance either of them getting injured surely?

Surely there is no way we could come close to whatever ridiculous wages he is on in MLS.

EDIT: Yeah, he is on 600k a year, plus a bonus of 600K. Not a chance.
