Come on......JM thinks he can run anything with his broken socialist dogma.

His politics do not work and it's been proven. Venezuela, Russia, East Germany, Royston Vasey....shall I go on?

I really struggle to understand why some people can't see the simple economics and track history of how socialism will ruin us.

You might as well have said Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands. Or even the post-war transformation of the UK itself.

I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that your extremist views are down to geopolitical and historical ignorance. And not some crazed ideology.

No. In our working class family we managed meat, veg, and spuds most of the time.
However, I am looking forward to having to make less decisions. JC knows best.

Dolly can you please tell me why a floating voter should vote Labour? Genuinely asking as you're a big Corbyn fan and you're capable of responding without resorting to insults unlike a poster I won't name.

I know the Tories are awful. I don't need selling on that. Why are Labour the answer? I need more than they aren't Tories.

Concerns:

Economy - nationalisation etc, the likes of Alan Sugar who has not tried to avoid taxes saying Corbyn would be a disaster

Anti-Semitism becoming a major national issue - if Brexit embolded racists, Labour could embolden anti-Semites

Endless promises of free stuff - got to wait for the manifesto here but it's becoming laughable.

Zero confidence in most of the Labour front bench

Cheers J2. There's many reasons, that I haven't got time to go into as I'm at work, but to address your points quickly;

Economy - Plenty of experts aren't saying it will be a disaster. And how much of a disaster are they likely to cause in 5 years anyway? I like Alan Sugar but what is he basing that on? Is it, like my dad, based on Labour effing up years ago? If it is, that's not a reason to think the latest lot will be the same. They're all new people. Only the name Labour is the same.

Anti-semitism - while it's a problem, the general public's perception of it has been proven to be 300 times worse than it actually is. And it is being investigated. Corbyn's been a bit slow dealing with it but most is people on social media (who could be anyone). He's a pacifist, has been all his life, and clearly isn't a racist either.

The promises - I agree are starting to sound far fetched, but again we need to see what's actually in the manifesto.

Confidence in the front bench - hard to say until they're given a go.

All the right wing/Tory scaremongering, I think, is largely just that. Labour's policies aren't THAT radical that they're going to destroy the UK in 5 years. Lots of their policies seem sensible to me, and for the greater good. Common sense stuff that is designed to make the country better for everyone. The Tories are well known for looking after their mates at the top.

Labour also created the NHS and aren't going to let that go to the wall.

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

you want me to be serious??? i am distraught that labour voters, the people that the party has always represented, are being denied any possibility of an alternative to this awful tory government. the very people the party is supposed to stand for have been disenfranchised. i am very angry that a bunch of thick ideologues have taken over and destroyed the only vehicle in the uk for progressive politics.

but I wouldn't want to take you, or political debate on twtd, that seriously if that's ok.

LOL. That's all very emotive but it's a non answer - nothing to do with the thing I was replying to Glassers about. Just like the other day when you said that tweet had been debunked, I proved he was wrong on at least one bit, hadn't debunked anything, and was basically putting his own spin on things, and all you did in response was downarrow.

Like many on here, when you can't answer a point because you've been caught bang to rights, you just run away or leaving something wishy washy.

It's a shame you don't like what the Labour Party's become. But that's not a reason to join the smear wagon spreading nonsense. Sticking to your principles doesn't require that and you'd get a lot more respect for it (from me at least).

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

Rather less than the utter spunktrumpets who have been lying about and smearing Corbyn because he took away their party political ball.

Not to mention letting a truly shocking government off the hook in the meantime.

No. Your dear leader and the idiots that back him are the ones who have repeatedly let the tories off the hook. Wake up ffs.

How do you work that out?

Offering a real alternative with a wide-ranging policy shift puts the Tories' awful record into focus.Playing the petty political game of waving a different-coloured flag at middle-class marginals is a large part of the reason we're where we are with society and with our ropey politics and media.

We've been sleepwalking towards the current sh!tshow of a government for decades.

You're getting a bit carried away there Dolly - the coalition only carried out a review, but seemingly did not implement any findings.

"It follows a similar exercise carried out under the Tory-Lib Dem coalition in 2012 after ministers complained about being frustrated by the slow workings of the government machine. Results of that £50,000 exercise disappeared into Sir Humphrey’s shredder."

Erm, they trIed to push it through but it was stopped by the permanent secretaries - the people it was trying to get rid of. Funny that!

The point is, Glassers was saying about the uproar if the Tories tried to pull such a stunt - AND THEY DID... MENTIONED IN HIS OWN LINK!

Glassers has been hoisted by his own petard!

It’s nothing to do with which party it’s about.

It’s the fact you clearly think that anyone who has a differing opinion to you (in this case voting Tory) is an idiot when politics are purely opinions. This is the problem I have with politics because too many people can’t accept other people’s opinions without labelling them an idiot or clueless, and that’s on both sides. I disagree with a lot of what you say, as well as others on the right, but it doesn’t mean you or others are idiots.

Getting very tiring reading posts where people think their opinions are facts, which unfortunately ruins it for the people that want to have a genuine conversation / debate about it.

Everyone has their own reasons for voting for the party they do, which are probably based on previous life experiences and the way they’ve been brought up. It doesn’t make them any more or less intelligent for the views they have.

This isn’t purely aimed at you by the way. It applies to many on this board who could learn a thing or two from the posters like SB.

Edit: typo..I’m an idiot..

I don't think I've posted any opinions as facts. I'm very big on facts, that's why I end up in so many rows on here!

I agree with a lot of what you say, I just feel the public have been conned by the Tories. There's just so many things they've got wrong, or downright lied about, so voting for them (particularly those who end up worse off after voting for them) just seems baffling. Like turkeys voting for Christmas.

But you're right, maybe idiots is a bit strong.

And that’s where I’m coming from in that in your view, the country is worse off from what you see, hear and read (and I’m not denying that). But from the area I’m in many people and businesses are doing very well and are happy with how the country is being run, and perhaps don’t see the effects of areas which aren’t as fortunate. So why would they vote any different?

I also think it doesn’t help with people assuming that because someone votes for one party, that person must agree with every policy that party is putting forward, which as I’m sure you know isn’t the case.

Like I say it wasn’t completely aimed at you but it would just be nice for once if all posters could respect others views without the need to insult them.
