We did Spurs 3-0 when they came back to Portman Rd. one of so many highlights of the best season I have ever witnessed. We were only 3 points off 3rd place in the final standings. We did it playing some brilliant attacking football too. TWTD!!

This game was a big moment as it seemed to show that we could compete at the top level. The last 10 minutes were very nervy as we sat back & I was dreading/anticipating a late Man U winner & we needed a point as a confidence booster. I still thought it was important we beat Sunderland on the Saturday, which we did. 2 defeats in the next 2 & I still though the season was going to be a relegation battle but then winning at Leeds & getting the better of a draw with Arsenal convinced me we were here to stay. The period until December was like a dream. Despite a dodgy January (I'm still annoyed at GB apparently settling for 1-0 at home to Brum, which I didn't think would be enough) we rallied again & had a superb April. I don't think I'm ever going to see another time like it, but I'm glad it happened.

Remember listening to the phone in on 5live after that game at Everton, and one of their fans phoned in saying, Ipswich won’t stay up, they’ll stay well up, best promoted team he’d seen at goodison in memory. We took them apart that day.

The 3-0 against Spurs on Sky was special. Stewart's goal against Liverpool at Anfield, the 3-0 win at Goodison, Bramble's winner against Sunderland all brilliant stuff. Reuser against both Bradford and Man City and Stewart's hatrick against Southampton just stunning. Almost crazy to think we fell apart the following season. Seems almost inconceivable we will ever get that good again........ever.

yeah that was an eye opener of a game in the difference in skill that Man Utd could offer up, they had players who could not just cross a ball and it arrive exactly with the player who wanted it,but would instantly control it all whilst running like a 100m sprinter, it was like watching Fifa in real life, Giggs runs down the wing, crosses the ball across the length of the pitch to Beckham who picks it up and knocks it straight towards goal. iirc it was a weak free kick they got given, or should have been offside something like that, but couldnt argue with the goal from it, fortunately I think we met them early enough they hadnt settled into form. Stewart scoring against Liverpool away at the Kop end was good as well :)

We played well at Spurs that day, easily the better side. Johnson put a one on one wide when it was 2-1. I left White Hart Lane confident we'd be fine as we looked the business. My favourite memories are the Man Utd game, the final whistle at Anfield and Matt Holland's late goal at home to Charlton. And the 3-2 win at Manchester City when it should have been 5-0. We battered them.

Man Utd match We got tickets after being picked out in a ballot the club use to run, we caught the train from Penzance my 2 sons were so excited. Beckham scored a direct free kick which was a cross that everybody missed including Richard Wright. Best thing was Fabian Bartez running into the post after clearing a ball under a challenge😀

Of course we had the old North Stand that season, one which could project the chanting and cheering around the stadium instead of the new one, where it gets lost in the rafters. Looking back, for more than one reason, I wish we had never developed it.

I am aware of that but when you think of the super force they are today i still think it’s remarkable. Similar to beating Real Madrid and Barcelona back in the day, just hard to comprehend.
