At Xmas 1975 when I was a student, I worked in a small foundry in Rotherham.
A bread cake and dripping was 10p from the canteen.
It was my 2nd choice after a bread cake filled with bacon and a wet egg (25p).
The bus fare to Rotherham was the maximum fare of 14p as it was 8 miles.
My rent was £4 pw.
A pint of Tetley's was 33p.
This was when the Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire was run by David Blunkett and before the Thatcher years.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

Oh and salt, I even put salt on my toast.

You like nuts and also chocolate raisins, so I'm assuming you like the combo - Cadburys Fruit and Nut.

Your daily rent was equivalent to less than 2 pints!? Where on earth were you living?

A shared house in Sheffield.
FYI a Texas Instruments scientific calculator was £400.
3 years later they were £25.

Scotch eggs, not really a guilty pleasure but they are when you eat them in the quantities I do. Rather partial to mashed potato sandwiches too.

Yes, but not as much as you would think.

I find Cadburys chocolate too firm/hard to eat in sufficiently gluttonous quantities. Galaxy is much better for that. Soft Cadbury’s chocolate is not so nice.

When I get going I eat a lot.....

Mixed bags of chocolate, peanuts and raisins are a winner.

I find Galaxy sticks in the back of my throat - really can’t eat it. No idea why

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.
