Everyone stating the lockdown isn't holding... on 16:04 - Apr 27 by bluelagos | Think it was Guthers who suggested opening up more of the green space in London. Does seem ridiculous to be encouraging people to do exercise but restricting the spaces they can use, then complaining they are all too close. |
School playing fields was my suggestion.

Everyone stating the lockdown isn't holding... on 15:13 - Apr 27 by homer_123 | Went for our daily walk on Saturday to find significantly more people out and about in N Essex, more over many more were clearly not following social distancing rules. Main culprits were teenages and young 20's - no way were they all 'living together' then at the other end of the spectrum many over 60s out and about, mainly walking their dogs with other couples. Same on Sunday. |
Wife said the same on her 60min run she had to keep zig zagging across the road to get round pockets of people chatting -she felt uncomfortable with that!

Not sure when the last time you went to a school in London was but absolutely none of them around here have school playing fields. I can't think of a single one within miles. There seems to be a huge disconnect on here between people who live in the countryside and people who live in cities. SB [Post edited 27 Apr 2020 22:30]

Everyone stating the lockdown isn't holding... on 12:16 - Apr 28 with 1260 views | Pinewoodblue | Had appointment at doctors surgery this morning, routine blood test, apparently calls to surgery are way down on normal levels and some people are even declining routine blood tests . People are actively avoiding contact .

There is an irony in my being one of the few seemingly happy to support the official police lines :-)

Everyone stating the lockdown isn't holding... on 16:55 - Apr 27 by sparks | Its interesting- the derided idea of herd immunity is still essential it seems. We can either flatten the curve- in which case herd immunity is the long term solution, or clamp down so hard that the virus runs out of hosts and disappears (at least on our island). We dont seem to be aiming for the latter. |
People will always want to visit dear old Blighty and tourism is huge for our economy, not to mention business and holiday travel for Brits themselves, so the virus is never going to disappear from here even if we are an island

I had a text from mine yesterday reminding me if there are any issues to call them, so guess they are way down

Everyone stating the lockdown isn't holding... on 14:17 - Apr 27 by bluelagos | I am happy to go on record and state I think the policing (with one or two stupid excesses) has been excellent on the lockdown :-) (Appreciate the wink) |
I live on a small square in the SE of England which is a mix of houses/flats and people during the sunny weather have flouted the lock down rules on a daily basis which is just crazy.

Don’t be so sure. The only thing nearly over are the lives of all those Trump simpletons, either through drinking bleach or catching the virus at one of their role play protests. Sure, Crapspray, MO, population 200, might open up a shop or two in the near future, but this shouldn’t be anywhere near over for anyone living anywhere moderately sized. Of course that won’t stop all those backwards Red states giving it a go though.

Everyone stating the lockdown isn't holding... on 08:32 - Apr 29 with 1064 views | hampstead_blue | I'd wager it's very localised and also down to the demographic and even religious beliefs. Stokie was talking about his experiences the other weekend. I'm not surprised in London as there are so many flats and so little outdoor space. It is slightly busier in our town in Wilts. Not much but things such as construction are still ongoing. Edit; There is almost a permanent queue outside the local bike shop! They are running dry on stock and can't get new adult bikes of many types. Delighted to see that as it's a local chap who employs a local team. [Post edited 29 Apr 2020 8:34]

| Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me.
Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing.
Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial.
Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid.
Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

My local bike repairer said he'd never been busier. He said bikes in sheds for 5 years are getting ridden and in very much in need of a service. Definitely one of the upsides of the lockdown, people getting active.

Nice to see some local businesses flourishing. We got our bikes from another local bike shop. When I asked for a veterans discount they raised an eyebrow. I got one but they did it as it's an Army town.

The important thing is not too shoot yerself in the foot by destroying your economy and paradeing as the savior of the sick, sadly not too many people yet have cottoned onto what's happening, they will work it out in the end as usual

I think it's fair to say that in these instances one can use the equation (x + m)(x + n) = x2 + (m + n)x + mn What this basically equates to is those who cannot spell tend to talk a bit of daft rubbish.
