Stay Alert (n/t) on 10:02 - May 10 by GlasgowBlue | This is a disastrous message. Stay at home meant exactly that. Now staying alert gives a message that you can go out but be careful. We shouldn’t be looking at easing anything for another two to three weeks imo. We are getting on top of this every day. Let’s see it through. |
We need to hear about a proper road map of what will happen in 2 or 4 weeks time. Give people facts and information, we can cope with it. Give us something to work towards and I suspect you get buy in, if he simply tells me tonight that I can go a frigging garden canter on Wednesday I will scream.

Stay Alert (n/t) on 09:58 - May 10 by vapour_trail | Anybody supporting this ridiculous regime, bereft of any semblance of leadership, after the last few months, is thick as fcking pigsh1t. I don’t see anybody handling this worse than the UK. Not even that orange fool over the atlantic. |
Every other nation thinks we've done a terrible job of managing Covid-19. Many scientists think we've botched it. And yet we still see countless apologists for this shower of a government, even from those who profess they don't support it.

We arent realy getting on top of it. Our graphs are near static in contrast with other nations. Too late to try to extend lockdown- the message is already out and people are acting accordingly. The supposed rules for relaxtion include "Reliable data to show the infection rate is falling to manageable levels". Infection rates remain static at around 5k a day since the start of April. The fact that is happening despite "lockdown" is surely a huge alarm bell. Relax it now and the consequences are obvious.

That is the last thing we needed- but its too late now. By trailing this stuff, we have encouraged everyone to jump the gun.

"People are basically selfish. Im alright jack s0d you attitudes." Isn't that the basic definition of conservatism? Sadly, too many people seem to value competition over care.

We cant come out if we arnt any further forward. And looking at it we arnt. We are no better off than we were 3 weeks ago. Where do you want to be in 2 to 4 weeks time? Back partying in the pub? Back hugging your work mates? Back huddled in restaurants? It cant happen. What do you want to hear? Life has changed for years mate accept it.

Stay Alert (n/t) on 09:53 - May 10 by Herbivore | Few people round here had friends and family round, some garden parties going on. Lots more cars and people around on the streets generally too. Briefing the press that lockdown would be eased the day before a sunny bank holiday weekend is one of the grossest acts of government incompetence in living memory. |
You have to balance the messaging around loads of social and economic considerations, this country is on its knees economically. There are great swathes of people severely affected by the social issues arising out of being kept locked up before we even think about what the effects of the recession will have on so many, have you seen the numbers around the break down in cancer care and other serious illnesses? It is always about balance it has to be. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

The message ahs been "stay at home- but its alright to go out, and if your work is vaguely required, do that. And if you are a construction worker- its fine. Oh no it isnt- well maybe it is... and go to the shops for food, pretty much when you like. And exercise where and how you like. And vvarious "key workers" who really are not key workers are running as normal. Its been very weak compared to others- and we are ploughin on pretending we have had the same effect as others, and should relax at the same time as others- when the figure clearly show we are hugely short of where other nations are.

5k is what they know about. They reckoned earlier on the news the figure is probably around 20,000 catching it a day. Thats frightening. But all people want to do is get back to partying. What can you do?

Briefing the press that lockdown will be eased is not taking a balanced decision. It's behaving recklessly.

Most other countries seem to be able to come up with a properly considered plan, tell us how we move on even in stages, no one expects us to return to how life was in February but have a conversation with us about what it is likely to look like and we can adjust and adapt in response to that. Tell us nothing but more of the same indefinitely is not going to help manage the reopening of the country which like it or not has to happen in some shape or form you have to accept that.

Trouble is people bent the rules. Especially on exercise. Even on here people have been going for 5 hour cycle rides. 15 mile hikes. 10 mile runs and blatantly encouraging it through this site. They were saying 1 hour was long enough for exercise. People took the p!ss. Construction has been a joke l will give you that. It should have been stopped.

And we should probably think about quarantining people flying into the country. In a few weeks time. That’s what the science is feeling is. Strong and fcking stable.

Unlikely to die so go about your business but please be aware of others who are more vulnerable than you.

Other countries went into lockdown 2-3 weeks or more sooner than us and they are only now easing things and providing road maps back to some sort of normality. We are nowhere near being ready to do that.

Even if you are right, which I don’t think you are btw, the Govt can have a proper conversation with us about how we manage things going forward. Always predicated on the fact as with South Korea and others we have the ability to reintroduce measure if the situation deteriorates.

I think if all of those people are under 40 then the country would thank me for it. There isn't going to be a permanent vaccine for this, so the young people in this country need to get immunity. You cannot lockdown for ever.

More ignorant nonsense. We dont know if a permanent vaccine is gong to be available. We DO know that there is a good likelihood that, if a permanent vaccine is not feasible, then such immunity as you would attain from being infected will not be permanent either. As has been explained to you dozens of times, under 40s are quitecapable of spreading the virus to vulnerable people... Given that black people are seemingly more vulnerable- would you say your plan should only be for white people under 40?
