Stay Alert (n/t) on 13:30 - May 10 by DebsyAngel | We are in the Felixstowe Road area. The Co-op nearby is not that great, my husband does try in there, but he has also tried Home Bargains which is not too bad for some stuff. |
If you wish, I can arrange or do myself, for somebody to do all your food shopping for you. I know it isn't like doing it yourself, but if it means you do not have the anxiety of going out, then there are plenty of people on here who would be glad to help. Nothing wrong with asking for help. See the thread that Phil has pinned near the top of the page. There is help out there.

But I'm encouraged that it seems it will now be up to the individual as to how they deal with this virus. Under 40? Unlikely to die so go about your business but please be aware of others who are more vulnerable than you. |

Thank you so much for your offer, but my husband is doing the main grocery shopping in Aldi, but that is so very kind. I feel though, despite hating it, that if I did not go out at least once a week, my mental health and depression would be even worse and I would become a total hermit, so I have to push myself and be brave, but be as sensible as I can also.

And you are doing the right thing, as long as you are careful. Please never be to strong willed or embarrassed to ask for help though. Just by asking, it can make you feel better. Remember, there is help out there if you need it. PM me, or I dare say, most of us, if you need to chat about anything. I come across on here as a bit of an idiot (ok, a full on idiot), but I am really sensible in real life and would be only to willing to help you or anybody else who needs it. That's not what you've been doing though is it. You've boasted about having people round, potentially spreading it between you and taking it back out into the world. You've actively tried to make others do the same to make yourself look less selfish. You have actively put other people in danger with your actions. You are a selfish individual.

Stay Alert (n/t) on 13:35 - May 10 by DebsyAngel | I don;t have a mask, and with my breathing problems/mild asthma, and a blockage in my nose, it would suffocate me. I do go out to town armed with wipes, hand gel and make sure I use them regularly. I tend to attract the coughers though! I go out my way to avoid people and have been pretty vocal and snappy with people who have got too close to me. It was past a joke on my fortnightly hours' walk last week - I had to cross the road 15 times to avoid people who had no intention of keeping distance, and this was at 6pm! I do wash my hands regularly (but am suffering really cracked hands too), and disinfect all bags/things I get, to the point of worsening OCD. I am scared that in the future, we would not even be able to go for a day out and looking through charity shops for records etc without being at risk. |
Well seems to me that you're doing absolutely everything you can to protect yourself, I can imagine the OCD is really highlighted right now and making things so much worse, I feel for you.... It's really difficult when you live in a busy area too, it's like night and day when comparing that to living in an spacious place in a small village for example, I'm desperate to get down to the river to fish, I can't tell you the sense of well being that brings, it's not really about the fishing itself it's more about being by the water and amongst the wildlife for a few hours, the escape you know....so walks are hugely important yes, and right now because we can't drive out to a nice place to escape to a nice location, it's a damn site harder no doubt..

Popping out and doing a bit of shopping would be fine if everyone just behaved themselves. It really shouldn't be hard at all really. But that's not what happens. I had someone I know sidle up to me yesterday in the shop to show me something on his phone. I sort of edged away a bit and he followed me, determined to show me some video about the virus. One moment he was telling me it's definitely come from the Wuhan lab and how he has proof, then he's trying to convince it's not dangerous and started making the flu comparisons again. What he seems to keep overlooking is that if this was even [only] a flu outbreak, I still wouldn't want him anywhere near me because I don't want to sodding catch it. [Post edited 10 May 2020 16:50]

We don;t drive so have to walk if we want to go out. Husband is a keen runner so he tries to get out very early in the morning to have a run, while it's quiet. We have a big garden and try to sit out there when the weather is nice and it is quiet (a rare occasion round here with screaming kids and cretinous noisy neighbours). I do like looking at the birds and butterflies so try to take breaks outside when I can.

FFS! That is just ridiculous, I would have really lost my rag at that idiot. I have never been an aggressive person but at times have been pretty vocal at my anger of people getting too close.

Stay Alert (n/t) on 10:21 - May 10 by r2d2 | Trouble is people bent the rules. Especially on exercise. Even on here people have been going for 5 hour cycle rides. 15 mile hikes. 10 mile runs and blatantly encouraging it through this site. They were saying 1 hour was long enough for exercise. People took the p!ss. Construction has been a joke l will give you that. It should have been stopped. |
Point of order. Extended solo cycle rides and hikes are not responsible for spreading CV. The clue is on the word solo. And I don't apologise for 1 second for encouraging people to get outside for their exercise. It is beneficial for them both physically an in terms of improving their mental health.

Correct. All proceedings stayed until June. Any new possession notices have to have a three month timescale.

Agree that solo exercise with appropriate distancing is beneficial. Unfortunately we are past that being what people are doing now. Did you see the pictures of London yesterday and the tweets from the police? Some of the VE day street parties were also clearly not abiding by the advice. I think regardless of what is said tonight that is going to continue and get worse - only thing that could stop it would be an awful May in regards to the weather. SB

To be honest I missed his post in reading your reply - you are right, he's out of order. I got in a small cycle to the shops today but it's very windy and not great conditions. That does mean that there is far less people about though. SB
