Stay Alert (n/t) on 09:16 - May 10 by Herbivore | Because being alert will definitely help me to spot Covid-19 and steer clear of it. All this government has is vacuous slogans and they can't even consistently stick to those. Whenever they have to put any meat on the bones they end up giving contradictory or confusing advice all over the place. The messaging on this has been woeful. |
Agree. What does stay alert actually mean?

Yep, this Government would never suggest a delicate French pastry for the Great British worker. Tut tut footers, stop making fun of Matt Hancock and the Inspirational Leader. Eccles cakes for all.

Stay Alert (n/t) on 09:57 - May 10 by itfcjoe | Looking at what is coming out of the Government though, they think the lockdown has been too strictly adhered too, much more than they thought it would be and that is why it needs to be eased a bit as economy tanking. |
I make that completely wrong. Having a ‘proper’ lockdown would surely have been better for the economy as we would have been able to end it sooner?

Stay Alert (n/t) on 12:47 - May 10 with 835 views | DebsyAngel | I just feel so depressed that I can't go on. I see other countries being sensible and having sense, all I see here is another stupid "slogan" that gives idiots more carte blanche to go out more often, I am losing hope that there will ever be a vaccine. Won't even have Christmas this year at this rate. Sorry to be on a downer, but I am really not coping. I get out once or twice a week, and HATE going out when I have to. It was ok the first 2 weeks as barely anyone out, now it is overcrowded and the queueing outside shops seems pointless as the distancing is out the window once inside the shops (especially Sainsburys). Boots are the only one I have been in that seem to be careful. I have just had enough. Sorry guys.

Is it not possible to walk to shops out of town? As those ones are much easier to manage when they have big car parks out the front rather than tight pavements (Comparing Sainsburys in town to Hadleigh Road or Warren Heath). They are much bigger too with wider aisles which helps.

So sorry to read that. There are plenty of organisations still operating that you can contact for help. There will be an end to this, so try and stay as strong as you can. Things will get better. Christmas is still a long way off, so hopefully things will have returned to some sort of normality by then. If you need to speak to someone I can find somebody to call you if you wish. Thank you - I have people I can talk to, like my husband, parents, and online friends, but a lot of times I really struggle. I try to carry on with my normal things, like cleaning the house, listening to plenty of music etc. and talking to friends in groups about music but I just feel hopeless. When I see those pictures of people flouting the rules and nothing being done about it, it makes my heart sink.

We have an Aldi nearby which my husband goes to twice a week for the food and general stuff, but there are no Boots stores so need to go into town really. The other shops you mentioned are a little too far for me sadly. Thanks for your advice anyway.

Sometimes you need to talk to somebody total unconnected to you. They are professionals in what they do. I am at Ipswich General tomorrow, so can ask somebody to call you, if you wish. If not, then yes, keep talking to all those around you that you trust. I would, just as a word of advice, try and stay off social media type sites. They can be informative, but can also be terribly misleading. Look after yourself and believe that things will get better.

Thanks Pecker - if I need someone independent to call me, I will PM you and let you know. I go on Facebook a lot but as I said in a previous post, it's my friends and forums about old music, which I find to be the only comfort at this time (would also help if Mixcloud sorted their glitch out which prevents me from scrolling down my saved shows, but they won't reply to my complaint). Take care of yourself.

Social media sites and the news on tv in general is misleading. This whole episode is being media led. First they kept crowing about us being locked down. The minute we were they were worrying about how soon we could get out. They havent helped in all this confusion at all. They should be held account for it. But as usual get away with everything.

Not sure where you are but East of England Co-op seem to be managing their smaller stores well. They limit the number in store and will speak to anyone who ignores the distance rules. Last week they asked a guy standing in front of newspapers to move on as he was creating a blockage.

The people being shown flouting the rules are really a drop in the ocean on the grand scheme of things, the media do a lot of people no favours here, how do we know that a small group of young people sitting in a park aren't living together for uni for instance? We don't, they don't show the millions of people who are all doing their bit out there.. You can only do the best that you can do to look after yourself, a mask will help, making sure you keep your distance as best you can, and the biggest one is still washing your hands and not touching your face which seems to be loosening compared to a few weeks ago imo.

Yes I do tend to look at Yahoo for my news, and need to stop looking at it. They do confuse it all, and I need to avoid it as much as possible. Maybe the BBC news would be a better option for me.

We are in the Felixstowe Road area. The Co-op nearby is not that great, my husband does try in there, but he has also tried Home Bargains which is not too bad for some stuff.

Stay Alert (n/t) on 09:53 - May 10 by Herbivore | Few people round here had friends and family round, some garden parties going on. Lots more cars and people around on the streets generally too. Briefing the press that lockdown would be eased the day before a sunny bank holiday weekend is one of the grossest acts of government incompetence in living memory. |
It's almost like it was done on purpose...

I don;t have a mask, and with my breathing problems/mild asthma, and a blockage in my nose, it would suffocate me. I do go out to town armed with wipes, hand gel and make sure I use them regularly. I tend to attract the coughers though! I go out my way to avoid people and have been pretty vocal and snappy with people who have got too close to me. It was past a joke on my fortnightly hours' walk last week - I had to cross the road 15 times to avoid people who had no intention of keeping distance, and this was at 6pm! I do wash my hands regularly (but am suffering really cracked hands too), and disinfect all bags/things I get, to the point of worsening OCD. I am scared that in the future, we would not even be able to go for a day out and looking through charity shops for records etc without being at risk.
