Abuse, winding-up, bans etc 20:37 - Aug 24 with 8216 views | PhilTWTD | Think generally the forum has gone pretty well over the lockdown and beyond and has been a really good place to be during a difficult time. However, the last week or so has got pretty unpleasant. I really don't think anyone should need reminding that abuse, stirring, winding-up etc is not welcome and those that continue to do it won't be welcome, as is now the case for a couple of previously regular users. A return to the civility of earlier in the summer would be appreciated.

Innit. I've been on here a lot today, largely posting absolute drivel about Ipswich pubs and Jordan Hugill. Get back from walking the dog and it's all kicked off!

I didn't see the end of the Norwich thread but what he posted was spot on. Why are some Town fans so afraid of admitting Norwich are a well run club these days? They started this cycle with a heavy dose of luck but they are run very well. It's painful but it's the truth.

Abuse, winding-up, bans etc on 21:49 - Aug 24 by catch74 | Never half-hearted with anything, seemed to disappear and then come back full guns blazing. Can’t say I had a problem with him but can see his full on style might rub up the wrong way. Weird flex. |
Was getting particularly nasty with one poster, PMs as well as on the forum, which was the final straw. Had also had run-ins with two other posters over the last couple of weeks, both of whom had made complaints about him and who don't seem to be using the forum any more as a result. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

They are well run but they also seem to have had the rub of the green for a while too. Maybe the two go hand-in-hand to a large degree but they were pretty close to sacking Farke by all accounts before it all fell right for them. Also by all accounts had it not done so they were in a bit of a mess (don't know how true that is, though). However, for all that they have had a decade of being better than us, would we give all our history for that. I still have (maybe a forlorn) hope that it won't be another decade before we catch them up one way or another. Everything won't continue turning to gold for them forever and surely sooner or later we will sort ourselves out won't we? It would be nice for us to be in the same league after next season at least.

I’m surprised he got away with the profanity. But as soon as it turned to nudity as well, he left Phil with no choice.

Abuse, winding-up, bans etc on 22:14 - Aug 24 with 1618 views | Swailsey | I think, sadly, this just goes to show that people who use this forum fall into 3 camps: Camp 1: Actual humans who appreciate the things they say have impacts and that they are engaging with other humans. People who want to get something out of this place and rely on it in some way. They treat TWTD like a family WhatsApp chat and understand that your 67 year old dad won’t always relate to your 17 year old nephew. Camp 2: People who spend half of the time wanting to be in Camp 1, but can’t resist Camp 3. They go overboard due to bottling up the feelings. They treat TWTD like Reddit. Camp 3: People who just treat the internet as a place to say anything, be anyone and just not give a f**k. They treat TWTD like the YouTube comments section. I want to be 1, but sometimes fall into 2. There are far too many of 3 in this world and it makes for a very depressing place.

Agree with much of this. The litmus test for me is to what extent people would act how they do on here in 'real life'. Not that I'm some particularly scary brute or anything but it does surprise me the tone and language some people use on here. Not a cat in hell's chance those people would talk like that face to face. I think a bit of courtesy goes a long way, and people should try and treat each other how they wish to be treated. It should really go without saying.

'Be nice to people' is all round decent life advice. I have the occasional lapse on here, but as a rule that is how I lead my life. It seems to work out OK.
