Have the EADT issued an apology yet. on 19:36 - Aug 29 by itfcjoe | Young players do clean boots, but these are guys who have signed professional contracts and then subsequently signed a second extended pro deal. They’ve done there time cleaning boots. It wasn’t a non story, stories like this get out because it is an unhappy camp |
The other thing that gets me is some of the players who apparently have to earn the right to be in the photo, were in last seasons squad photo.... How come the young lads who didn't do anything to cause last years disaster of a season have lost the right, but the ones who played a part in it have kept the right? It does start to sound like a bit of an unhappy camp like you say. Contrast this to when Lambert came in and he was (rightly) calling out the poor man management which happened under Hurst. He's now starting to be guilty of the same things. Whilst Stuart Watson has admitted he's got some of the details wrong and apologised to it, the crux of the story is true - some youngsters were left out of the photo because the club wanted to send a message to them. It's interesting that some people on here want others to apologise for getting it wrong as well, but are not willing to apologise for their absurd claims that the players not being in the team photo or having their own shots taken was because of COVID regulations.

To be fair, I think he thinks the lies were told to Stuart, not by him.

That doesn’t appear to change the story one bit. Where they were told and who told them is irrelevant. I don’t understand why they decided this was a good idea.

Thing is though that all journos are having to rely on sources and third parties more these days as they can't get close to the club for obvious reasons, no doubt Stuart was told by a good source who had been reliable previously the details.

or somebody told Watson what he printed so if 'lies' were told then it was the person telling Watson that was doing the lying. Watson must have got the information from somebody so either somewhere along the line there was a misunderstanding or someone deliberately gave him incorrect/untrue information.

Someone from within the club then which presumably backs up the comment Joe has made about unrest in the camp.

It does make a difference. If I was told to turn up to a meeting by management and then when I got there told I was not important enough to attend that would be far more annoying than having been told in advance that the meeting was not for me. I can understand them being upset that effectively they are not in the first team squad. However, if they are going to make it in the game they need to respond well to that sort of a knock.

Hard to know really, at how bad it was under Hurst as was over so quickly. Lambert just doesn’t have relationships with any players, it all has to go through his assistants. He thinks he’s Fergie and can just oversee everything and do his work that way - but he can’t set a team up or motivate them. No relationship with, or respect from, the senior players; and the youngsters think he is impossible to work with

Evans doesn't get much for the 10k a week. That sounds pretty untenable, and irreversible. I don't think it's too late for a new manager to take over now, and use these 2 weeks and 2 cup games as his pre season. [Post edited 29 Aug 2020 21:05]

Skuse, Chambers and co have fallen out with him like they did with Hurst? A manager doesn't have to be a good motivator but if he isn't he needs those around him who are. There are certainly times where the team does not seem properly motivated but that has been the case under a number of managers.

I don’t think it’s motivation, the squad does that - but they are going into games with one hand tied behind their backs. But of shape in a 442 on a Wednesday, team named at 1pm on a Saturday and it’s a 352. The fans can see he’s a chancer without a clue, changing team shape and style every week, you’d have to be incredibly naive to think that the players don’t think that to. Look at Norris comments when he signed for Burley, I’ve heard that his thoughts here that it was an absolute shambles. It clearly is. And whether people think it is a non story or not, he’s clearly p155ed off Woolfie this week, and some players with this photo thing - if people weren’t p155ed off then they wouldn’t be speaking to Stuart Watson about it, because there is no way that this isn’t how this story got out there

From what I hear Evans has been all over him like a rash as it is, has sat down with all the players individually without PL there - so the ice must be very thin. Starting the season with Lambert in charge is suicidal for him, and he’ll get what he deserves - sadly we’ll have to suffer it too

So if PL has lost the players and he has lost, seemingly, the majority of the fans he has got nothing. It is difficult to see why ME should keep him because it is doing nobody any good. It is a shame because I still cannot dislike the bloke.
