Appointing McCarthy at the time was 100% the right appointment though. He did a great job with us from day one until it went sour towards the end- and i say this as someone who thought it was McCarthys time to go!

I am starting to believe this Agent Lambert stuff

...because that went well too. Has Evans made any correct decisions? Staggering really given his other successes. He seems impervious to ridicule from some sections though.

Been reading this forum for the last few months without much comment, largely because I’ve never been more disinterested in the club despite doing nigh on 25 games last season. It seems to me that no-one knows who or what to blame any more and we’re all pointing in different directions. We feel more confused and disconnected as a fan base now than we did at the end of Mick Marmite McCarthy’s tenure and that takes some doing - utterly depressing.

Well yeah it went well. He kept us up after inheriting a shambles of a team that was bottom of the league and he had us in the play offs within 18 months. Are you honestly trying to argue that appointing Mick was a bad decision?

No, I’m saying it was a dreary, dull appointment out of necessity that divided the fan base and has a left a bitter lingering malaise and simmering discontent. Nothing much good came of it despite a modicum of success. It’s another failure in a litany of failures.

We can dress it up all we like and point to it as a ‘successful’ period that was under funded and could have been more, ultimately it wasn’t though and that’s on Evans. The disdain and fragmented discourse which exists today is on Mick and his fallout. Everything else since then has been a sharp slide into obscurity for which Evans has to be accountable.

"The disdain and fragmented discourse which exists today is on Mick and his fallout".

What absolute nonsense.

A lot of the fault for our current malaise is with the massively entitled supporters who created the atmosphere which led to McCarthy's departure. It is McCarthy who should've had the five-year extension. He proved, time and again, that he could do a job on limited funds. Under McCarthy we had a chance of progress.

Hes even deleted all his proper old ones of him in the academy.

Not the best thing to do tbh. Not sure how to feel about that.

Fck him.

He should grow the fck up and may then be taken seriously.

For everyone saying 'MM is the only thing Evans got right' it's worth remembering that it was Paul Jewell who recommended MM after Jewell resigned.

Last season the answer was staring Evans in the face with Warnock looking for a job and he would almost certainly have been interested.

Now the answer is staring Evans in the face even closer to home. Go and get Burley or promote Dyer.

This never ending shambles is so tiring. It's not even like the five year deal looks stupid in hindsight. It was stupid in real time. This board was stunned when it was announced and no one thought it was a good idea. The one decent thing Lambert has done is bring in 3 solid signings in areas we needed strengthening. Hand this squad over to someone competent and we should do well.

As much as I would be gutted if Downes, KVY or Woolf were sold maybe it would provide enough cash to pay Lambert off. I fancy our chances more with a new manager and one decent player down than under Lambert with all three. I hope we're not going to waste another season waiting for a break clause to be triggered. That would be classic Evans, another season in league one with £7m less income to save £1m* to pay him off.

*There must be SOME active clauses which mean we don't have to pay the whole contract up?

Truly impaired.

He's put Ipswich footballer up and someone has said he's updating photos.

If it's something deliberate and following a fall out then that's not looking good for Lambert.

Having said that why would Woolfy remove all his Ipswich stuff...would seem a very odd reaction. Surely it has nothing to do with his affection or pride to play for us. It would seem very childish.

So basically it would be double bad. Attitude issue and Lambert losing the players etc.

We'll see. Suspect the pics will all go back up soon.

Got I can't way for the season to start so we can stop all this nonsense whether there is something in it or not. Pref we get off to a flyer or not and Lambert has gone. Either way just want it started!!

We have a bloated, unhappy squad, none of whom have any idea if they'll be starting. A genuinely awful manager. A clueless owner who seems to STILL have no clue how to run a football club.
And Dave Bowman is still at the club. How the fook is Mick’s mate still here in some undefined director of Football role?

Absolute fooking shambles. Scary thought is we may not have reached rock bottom yet.

Nah, we've got to give him 10 games first.

It’s sickening at the moment. Just by the amount of negative stuff coming out at the moment it feels like it’s only heading one way. I want him gone ASAP. If he’s not gone i want him and Ipswich to tear up the league and shove it all back at the doubters, me included.

I fear he’ll stay, we’ll be crap and feeling sick about blowing it again.

No, but he should have sacked him 18 months earlier in my opinion.

When they should have gone:

Keane: Beginning of October 2009
Jewell : End of 2011/2012
Mick : End of 16/17
Hurst: Beginning of October 2018
Lambert : End of last season(if we're being generous) or end of 2018/19.

This causes me great concern, I really couldn't give a monkeys arse about results in friendlies and who's not in a photo shoot but you can't go p!ss!ng off your best players!

I never knew the situation with Wolfy was this bad and this type of man management simply won't do, its reverting back to RK's days, god it loathes me to even mention that time in our history!!

Utter garbage if you’re pro-mick. If you’re anything other than that and actually have any objective criticism, you’d probably side with some of that sentiment.

Still the same pro-mick clique on here burning bright though i see. Frankly I find it as pitiful and embarrassing as a lot of the pre-season hysteria around events at PR that have been on here the last week or so. A lot of very bored middle aged men jumping on any pithy news thread in an attempt to create some semblance of meaning to something they have a fraction of insight on. This forum has massively declined in recent years, sadly.

As for the accountant jibe (equally tedious), she was too busy and opted against it although very much interested in the corruption that exists in football. I’m sure that’ll be contested too...
