The more of this nonsense I read, the more I realise I'm not really so much a 'far leftie'; I'm what I've always considered to be fairly normal. My views haven't changed much throughout my life. It's more that these kind of people are so far across to looneyville that they make anyone left of centre appear to be 'far lefties'.

Is it possible to disagree with the BLM movement on 15:05 - Sep 18 by ROKERITE | Too many on the left are bigots, closed minded bigots. The only hope is that the scales might fall from the eyes of some of them as they mature and they see how mistaken they have been. They see a deeply racist country. I see one of the greatest countries on the planet for a black man or woman to be born in and live in. Everything is open to anyone in this country. The cruellest thing anyone can say to a black child is that society is stacked against them. There is a desire on the left on both sides of The Atlantic to infantilise blacks and persuade them to see themselves as victims rather than full and equal members of society. This is arrogant, condescending, patronising but worst of all it damages the lives of so many; but of course the leftists get to feel smug and superior and ultimately that is what matters most to many of them. Nothing I have read on any thread on this message-board suggests that any poster is a true racist though it's quite possible I've missed one. But the left aren't interested in that. They are like the Witchfinder General; they're convinced there are racists galore everywhere so it stands to reason (their reason) there must be several on here. Of course it is possible to disagree with the BLM movement and not be a racist; most non-racists do. |
Well it's wonderful that at least one person in this world thinks that I (b. pre-1950) still have some maturing left to do!

I'm genuinely worried that a new age of ignorance is coming. I know these people have probably always existed but there seems to be real momentum behind them at the moment. After centuries of progress and learning, these anti-science idiots are a real menace and world leaders lack the courage or the will to properly tackle them. (those that aren't tacitly encouraging it for political purposes) The really annoying thing is how these people, who just parrot the absolute BS they've seen on social media, regard themselves as the free thinking and enlightened.

Someone who openly recites Alex Jones et al, told me earlier this year that, because I scoffed, I was incapable of critical thought. I know this is a bit off topic, but nonetheless it still bugs me that someone can be that brainwashed to think it's everyone else who is brainwashed if they can't see what they can!! Actually it's not that different really. Not when I've also been told I'm blind because I don't accept we're under invasion from Dover's beaches at the moment either.

I said this yesterday, but broadly people are currently living in two seperate realities, that each feel incredibly real and true. In one reality concepts such as truth, evidence, research, empathy, compassion and facts still hold sway. In the other individualism, conspiracy, feelings, anecdotes, contempt for science and suspicion of others rule the head and the heart. I think it's clear to see that both these realities are not equal. I have no idea how we reconcile them though. [Post edited 18 Sep 2020 15:49]

Listened to a BBC series the other week called How They Made Us Doubt Everything, and how lessons learned from cigarette companies, were taken on by oil companies, and now we have the anti-science lot pushing things with regards to linking climate change to things like manliness and common sense, politics and religion in the US. They know what works, and target the white population with lower education qualifications - it's so much putting people in their place, keeping them there and then blaming others for why their life is sh*t which they are then lapping up. Stockholm Syndrome - the series is really interesting https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000l7q1/episodes/guide EDIT - And the problem with this podcast, is the only people who will listen to it are those who are not in the latter of Spruce's 2 categories, and they are the ones who need to! And still more focussing from you on individuals you can find who may enforce your ugly views. There's been a lot of fuss on here concerning China's human rights abuses, so that won't wash. It's not a competition. You, like one or two others, are more interested in looking for ways to discredit the likes of BLM, than you are commenting on the actual victimisation of elements of society over the colour of their skin. How does the video of the man litter-picking make you feel? The man ordered to leave the pool? The man shot dead in his own apartment by the policewoman who thought she was in her own? The lady in her own living room? The thousands upon thousands of these cases over the f*cking years that c**ts like you have ignored and still want to find ways to ignore? Why is one more important to you than the other? And Phil, why is this piece of sh1t still here?

But Herbie, do you ever stop to think that we must be pretty crap at furthering our left wing ideals considering that, in my lifetime at least, we have never had the chance to enjoy living under anything like the left wing government I'd like to see... So, if a genuinely left wing government hasn't been in power over the last three or four decades, who can we possibly blame for all of our society's ills?! Don't say... Centrists and Right Wingers? Surely not! [Post edited 18 Sep 2020 16:27]
