Drinan out for 2 months on 09:23 - Sep 18 by portmanking | What on earth are you on about man? Everyone knows our sports science department is inept. And to use Sears and Lankester as examples of recovery is truly laughable. With a proper sports science department, I highly doubt that Lankester would have experienced such issues with his back, it would have been picked up far sooner. |
Oh and KVY.....little knock....small niggle.....back on the grass.....two months.....6 months.....Operation. Bishop. Didz. Webster. on on on and on

Drinan out for 2 months on 09:18 - Sep 18 by Bluefish | Players get injuries, it happens at every club. Ipswich have had some horrible luck and it could be slightly imprived with investment but there has been investment and we are a division 3 side. The problem of injuries doesn't go away no matter how much you throw at it |
We are in Div 3 but we are NOT a div 3 club. Stop accepting the mediocrity.

Does anyone remember the story a couple years back that claimed our physio worsened an injury to one of our youngsters. Was in the national papers if I remember rightly. Hopefully someone can remember it more vividly but I vaguely remember it from back then.

Drinan out for 2 months on 08:51 - Sep 18 by Parmigiano | This is a huge blow. In just a few games this season he's already shown he's the best striker we've had in that middle front-man of a 4-3-3 for several years. I really thought he could be our Firmino this season. Lots of pressure on Norwood now. He will need to work on playing with his back to goal, holding up the ball and bringing the two wide-men or midfield runners into play. Let's hope Drinan's injury is only 2 months (around 10 matches) although our medical team usually under-predict these things. |
Can't see Norwood learning to play with his back to the goal. He's not that good in the air and relies on ruffling defenders who, by-and-large so far, have obstinately refused to be ruffled.

And we’re in division 3 because of Evans. I’d give him at least 75% of the blame for where we are now.

I’ve heard our sports science team is cutting edge, apparently Lambert didn’t listen to them and made Drinan to 60 burpees in the dressing room before kick off. Just because Drinan called him PRP.

Just to confirm that you think we had more investment in sports science in 2011 than we do now? This place is great

Yep, there was also a youngster who struggled through end of his time here with fitness and when he left was discovered he had a broken bone in his foot.

What do you think of the comments from Lee Johnson about Adam Webster? “We liked him for a long time – he’d had a bit of an indifferent year in terms of injuries and we’d heard it maybe wasn’t the best (at Ipswich) then in terms of sports science,” Johnson tells The Athletic. “We felt to go with his ability he had some physical gains and, with a fresh pre-season, we really thought he was worth the purchase.

Hahaha when was this, was it published? Don't we have a lot of Uni kids on placement that make up a large chunk of our sports science team?

What? Grow-up? Pathetic and to predictable response from yourself. The backroom support team is woeful underfunded and has been for many many years. Deny all you like but it's well known in the game. We have part-time uni grads running proceedings. This is a big professional football club with highly paid assets. Things SHOULD be a lot better. Of course players get injured, nobody is denying that.

Explain Connor Wickham, always fit and well here, leaves.... cannot play more than two games in a row without injury. Plus, that was a different physio team back then. Please think before typing..

Lee Johnson heard some hearsay that had probably come from our own manager (Hurst). He says it wasn't the best then so he is saying no different to what is widely reported. Mick was a great manager but not big into sports science. Since he left we have invested more in it. Why is that different to what I said previously and why do we have to have hysteria when we get injuries. It is a physical contact sport and injuries occur at every club. Breaking down from injuries is less acceptable but in game ones will happen

"Everyone knows our sports science team is inept".... Seriously, please explain..... how do you have such insight?! I've been inside the training ground, looked impressive to me, but what do I know. So please, tell me. What is so bad with the set up/staff, compared to other clubs at our level? Do you understand the question now?

Drinan out for 2 months on 08:48 - Sep 18 by Bluefish | It does make me laugh when supporters start pointing fingers at the club for injuries during matches. What exactly do you think other clubs have connected to their players thighs during a game? |
I'm with you on this. Injuries happen in matches - perhaps especially so after a long lay-off. We are obviously acutely aware of injuries that occur to our players, but I suspect less aware when they occur to players of other teams. We do seem to have some bad luck - perhaps more than our fair share. But where injuries occur in matches - especially impact injuries - we can't really put blame on our sports science.

3 years ago it was all Mick’s fault apparently

That's a huge concern. You'd like to think you're leaving your son or daughter in the best capable hands when dealing with an injury at a professional club. Based on this, I'd be tempted to take them elsewhere for treatment. Just doesn't look good from the club's point of view.
