US election megathread 03:24 - Sep 23 with 163027 viewsSpruceMoose

Seeing as we are approaching the presidential debates, and with the actual election being only 42 days away, maybe we could keep this as a US election megathread for those on here who are interested? One location for all the discussion would prevent multiple threads clogging up the board for those who don't care to get involved?

Personally, the reality of having to experience this election in the near future is stressful AF so if anyone else wants to get stressed together... Jump on board.

Now, insert all the usual caveats about polling here but...it's looking positive that we will be rid of Trump come 2021, much to the disappointment of a couple of posters on here. 538 are well respected in the field of poll analysis so what they announce should be taken seriously.

Of course their analysis doesn't take account of any election fraud, Russian interference, voter suppression etc. But it's positive news none the less. Once Trump is gone, we can work on Johnson. Decent people of the world... Unite!

He's still going.

The idea that the population is 20 million more than 2008 is apparently lost on him

People don't realise what they had until it has gone. People wanting to wind the clock back to Obama and one of the best candidates is Biden. So yes, believable.

Truly impaired.

It looks like the AZ senator has flipped too. So, possibly a hung senate in January depending on the results of the two run-offs

The possible Georgia Senate run offs for control of the senate in January are looking spicy AF.

So many angles. Will Trump get involved? Will he not care once he's given the boot? Will he think the GOP didn't back him enough? Will his followers still support Republican candidates when Trump is not on the ticket? Will Republican candidates try and distance themselves from Trump? Can they distance themselves? Can both sides get their voters to turn out?

Mmm Mmm mhmmm. God dayum. Tasty.

As predicted, some of the more moderate republicans are breaking ranks. I don't think Donald will be popular within the GOP when this all plays out, no should he after the absolutely unforgivable things he said about the late John McCain.

With all the focus on the League (Presidential race), its easy to forget about the FA Cup (Senate). Well CNN have just projected that the Dems are winning the Arizona Senatorship from the Republicans, which is nice.

Not sure about the pointy-eared Elf Trophy or Rumbelows Cup of the House tbh. I think even Norwich won one of those?!

I'm surprised that Dumb Trump Jr is surprised.

Was he expecting the cities his dad has spent the last four years denegrating as liberal, failing, crime ridden, immigrant loving hell holes to come out and vote for him? Especially as he made the mayors of many of these places beg him for Covid ventilators and other vital supplies?

Get in the bin you coke-addled loser. You're done.

Blissfully ignoring that Trump's divisive term caused all of this to happen and bolster the democrats. He should have denounced the racist loonies in Charlottesville, QAnon and other various conspiracy peddlers.

Had Trump led for all, not divide and rely on his own, he would have won a 2nd term easily.

If the Senate is 50-50 then the VP will have the casting vote.
I wonder how GOP senators will react to Kamala Harris sticking it to them.

I hope the GOP wash their hands of the Trumps - As pleased as I am for Biden, I am not confident in the Democrat Party's economic recovery plan. They need Biden to unite the nation, but think like a republican on some issues - economy being the big one.

Could be interesting, though I suspect the Democrats will end up losing 1 of the Senate seats in Georgia. A fair number of Democrat votes were probably voting ‘Against Trump’, and they may now feel like their job is accomplished. A fair share may also naturally lean Republican in what is typically a red state, therefore appreciating the balance of a Democrat president but Red senate. Just a hunch though.

I’m hoping Kelly Loeffler, who denied ever hearing about Donald Trumps sexual assault claims / comments, should at least lose her seat.

True, and I hope that’s the case.

I wonder how much Trump will even engage, or will other senior GOP leaders play more prominent roles in coordinating the campaign, including financing (though it’s short notice to raise funds). Perhaps someone can try and persuade Trump to stop blowing the remaining cash on frivolous law suits, and expensive haircuts.

Yeah I'm curious about that too.

I'm sure the NRA can stump up some cash.

Oh wait. They have their own legal fees to pay defending themselves against NY State.
