It's literally exactly the same thing that McCarthy did. Blaming fans for negativity and saying how difficult it is for the young kids to play in that atmosphere. Saying we were booing the young players at the end of the game when it was only when he came over. Creating a clear them vs us mentality, and im not sure why so many people are happy to overlook that and say he did such a good job. I wouldn't say that the current position between club and fans is as bad as it was then. Possibly because there's a lot more apathy around (which obviously is a very bad thing for the club).

People say he did a good job because he did a good job. When fans are booing - and plenty on here confirmed some very negative noises being made when youngsters made errors - you can't just say that the boos were specifically aimed at the manager. Everyone hears them. And when you chant that the football is sh!te then even if you are saying it is the manager's footy that's sh!te it is still sending out a message to the players that you think they're playing sh!te. People still won't own that.

The big difference here of course is that nobody is booing at the ground or chanting that the football is sh!t and yet he is still trying to blame the fans. If he and the players are indeed reading social media they can clearly see that the ire is being directed primarily at the manager and owner. You can make that clear on a message board in a way that you can't by just going BOOOOOOOOOO.

Almost certainly this.

I very much doubt it. Marcus is a very successful business owner, he'll know all about employment law.

Also, I give you exhibit A: our injury list.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Or perhaps the legal basis for his sacking is very shaky and don't know how to deal with it

It looks a lot like a compromise agreement. Within that will be an obligation on both sides (Henry and ITFC/Lambert) not to criticise the other.

Yes, he will know about employment law, which is exactly why he is on gardening leave and not sacked.

Looks like he’s been down this road before...

Some of the responses to that from Villa fans by the way:

"Thin skin has Paul. Talks a great progressive game. Delivers dour stodge."

""I thought we were excellent today" after every defeat!"

"Evidently little has changed"

"My least favourite Villa manager in my 40 years as a fan."

I’m most concerned that he doesn’t seem to know what position in the table we are, thinks we’ve only lost 2 games and is clinging onto us being ‘4 points off top’ whilst conveniently ignoring that Hull have 2 games in hand on us

Just hurry up and f*ck off Paul

I know! Played more games than anyone else in the division.

We also have a sudden large gap in GD from the top that seems to have alarmly appeared too!

If the sides below us win their games in hand we'll be 10th and if the sides above us win there's then there will be a quite significant gap starting to open up. We're 18th in the form table, we've taken 10 points from our last 9 games. It is last season all over again with the difference being our good run of results has lasted half as long. He's utterly delusional and a complete prick to boot.

Stop being negative. Look on the bright side.

His line about how he’d hate to be married to Brenner, another Premier League manager said something similar recently about feeling sorry for the journalists wife.... but I can’t remember who?! It’s bugging me.

“Brenner, everything you say to me is negative. I’d hate to be married to you. Honestly.”

The personal comments like that are bang out of order.

Just like the "Have you been drinking?" type shots he's taken before.

Very cowardly and unprofessional.

Not just that, but *they actively have to search it out*. It's not even the case that p!ssed up people are berating them at 2am in nightclubs in Town. People are social distancing, contact is minimal, there are no crowds booing, and they are not being accosted by drunk randoms.

Any criticism that is getting through to them is because they have gone looking for it.

Perhaps. Just perhaps, Henry won’t be replaced because ME knows a new manager will bring his own team in so there’s no point in allowing PL to make an appointment?

I wish - if only!

The "successful business owner" tag about ME has always puzzled me, because in his 13 years of running ITFC he's shown nothing but cluelessness, incompetence, lack of leadership of the right kind, and lack of imagination.

Leads me to think his building of his original empire may have been down to luck more than judgement; and that he's run out of luck.

Every team above us has at least 1 game in hand on us.

Sunderland have 1 game in hand on us

Accrington Stanley have 4 games in hand on us and are only 4 points behind us

Got to remember doesn’t fit the script though. Fans too negative. Boo us. How dare us not be satisfied with relegation and 11th in League 1

We are lucky to have him.
