Didn't we hold talks with him previously?

Lunacy that he has been given the axe.

He’s too big for us now anyway.

Not a chance. He turned us down when we were in the Championship and he's done well enough since that he'll walk into a lower Prem or top end Championship job.

I think Celtic might be a reasonable shout - a good couple of years there could get him another top half job in the Premier League - Leicester, Everton, Wolves etc. Bit difficult for Lampard to go much higher because his legendary Chelsea status rules him out of all other top 6 gigs except Man City.

You'd also have Gerrard versus Lampard at the top of the SPL which would be interesting

Think that is very harsh. Every manager wants a war chest.

He swerved a bullet here anyway. It wasn't the easiest job in the Champ, even harder when it would have been your first gig.

Lampard for us? That's the funniest thing I've heard! And you expect:

A) Lampard to drop down from a big club like Chelsea to us in L1?
B) Evans to pay a similar salary to what he would be looking for or what Chelsea were paying?

I give you a 5/10 on the troll-I-meter

There was a report that he wasn't impressed by our wage offer. And that was when we were in the championship - before he went to Chelsea on several million a year.

Don't think so, think its a statement of fact... he didnt want to be considerd for the job when we interviewed him because he didn't like the budget.

Fair enough, but he's hardly paid his dues as a manger, he went to Derby because he could splurge, did well there don't get me wrong... don't think he deserves the can at Chelsea.

But none of that changes the fact that he appears to only be prepared to take a job where he can spend.

He's certainly not comming here

There was something in that, equally if I remember rightly he wanted to bring in a big off-field staff as well. In the end he and ME agreed not to pursue the matter. Harry R said FL had been offered the job and turned it down, which wasn't the case.

Yes and that was reflected in the expectation of that season.

He did also have a multi-million pound squad that was already the envy of almsot every other club in the division and had the assurance that He would have money the following summer.

All this at a club where He is already, rightfully, a legend, that comes with unbridled good will of the fans and more leeway than he might otherwise have got.

So I'm not really convinced of that a counter argument.

Moot anyway, he's not comming numbers because the current manager retains the full support of the owners (apparently) and Frank doesn't want the job
