First half I thought he looked a shadow of himself, but second half he got better as the game went on.
We all know he has the potential to be a very good footballer, if Cook can get him purring over the rest of the season he could play a big part in getting us over the line.

Even though Downes wasn’t his best today, he offers more than Dozzel. Downes can tackle, pass the ball forward and run with the ball forward. Think we also saw glimpses that he kept his head cooler today. |  | | |

First half he was off it but the whole team were. He improved in the second half; looked more like his old self. [Post edited 9 Mar 2021 21:46]

Indeed. He showed the right level of tempered aggression tonight.
He also must play behind Bishop and Dozzell. We need the latter two to be on the ball in the opposition half and looking to play it forward, not playing keep ball with our defenders. |  |

I think the midfield was dysfunctional because teddy has looked good as an 8. Playing as a 20 he defaulted to recent weeks and we ended up isolating an off the boil Norwood. We had all three drop between the defence too many times to find space and the ball.
The changes seemed to highlight that and we played much more on the front foot after the break too. |  |

That's harsh, I broadly agree with Dub - was a lot better in second half, more like the Downes we want to see, winning the ball back well and trying to get us going. More like that please. | |

Yeah, disinterested may have been a bit strong.
However for me that was one of the worst games I think I’ve seen him have. I like Downes & he’s by far & away our best central midfielder when he’s on it. | |

Biggest positive from tonight, no silly fouls given away in dangerous areas, imo that tackle you mention a few weeks ago would have been a foul and a card without question, there was a massive drop in fouls tonight. Dozzell almost gave one away in the fist half with a shirt tug, but after that he contained himself. |  |
