I think Carmichael is a jobsworth nothing more. She hasn’t appeared in any of the dodgy investigations that contain m, Buckles, Thurwell, the chief constable, Tony Gates, Roz or Lindsay.
The chief constable is bent and will be brought down in the last episode is he the 4th man ( woman ) I don’t think so.

We’ve not heard anything more about the 50k Ted gave Steph. Especially now Steve and Kate know about it ( being saved for series 7? )

I want Carmichael to be bent but I think she's just officious.
I don't think we're getting anything wrapped up this year beyond the Davidson/Pilkington investigation.

There will be another season because they haven't signed James Nesbit up for the sum if his involvement to be posing for one covertly photo on a boat which also leads me to conclude he is not one of the bodies in the villa.

The structural decisions to decimate AC12 can only have come from the top, for obvious reasons of stopping investigations into internal corruption & links to highly profitable organised crime - drugs, illegal arms manufacture/trading, paedophile rings (possible personal involvement/blackmail there also). | |

Feels like they’ve set it up for Carmichael to grow a backbone and go after them in a next series
