First glimpsed the west coast of Scotland last autumn, truly stunning. Fair to say it lacks lots of accommodation options which is partly what makes it so wonderful, the isolation (bar a million and 1 campervans)

What you got guys?

There's some stunning places in the UK, one of my favs is The Gower Peninsula, basically a nicer Cornwall with less people.

My only concern about everyone not going abroad is that all the traditional spots will be so full it will make a staycation unbearable.

Think I might just crack on with Garden Project this year and look to next year for a Holiday.

Anglesey, we had a brilliant stay there.

I enjoyed a lovely break on the Suffolk coast last August, I didn't really see much of it or appreciate it when I was younger but it's beautiful. The UK is blessed with some stunning places but this year it might be better to go a bit off the beaten track if you want to avoid huge crowds. I stayed in a lovely yurt in the Brecon Beacons a few years back which was lovely for windswept walks.

I've got a lovely cottage booked for August. Was amazed it was available and for a very reasonable price. Will be lovely to get out into the countryside and relax with some walks and some history.

Historically we are a "2 or 3..... on 09:54 - Mar 30 with 2413 viewsBloots

....trips overseas" couple.

Usually one big trip (for me), one beach trip (for the wife) and one city break.

Last year we had 5 days in south Cornwall based in Falmouth, I took advantage of having to stay in the UK and took my Dad away on his first real holiday for years. It was marvelous.

Then the wife and I had 5 days in a log cabin (with hot tub) in Suffolk, days ranged from nature watching in Minsmere to seafood stalls in Yarmouth.

This year I booked a trip in July to South Devon up a couple of months ago, that looks to have paid off in terms of current availability.

Potentially going to do a rail trip to Glasgow/Inverness/Edinburgh late summer, all things being equal.

It's difficult, but not impossible, to survive with UK holidays.....apart from the weather obviously.

Nice. We had a family break back in the motherland at Easter a couple of years ago. It was the first time I'd been back to many parts for may years and had forgotten what a lovely part of the world it is. We started off in north Norfolk, had a few days on a boat in the Broads and and then worked our way down the Suffolk coast ending up at PR for a game. It was one of the better holidays I've had in a while (except we lost, but that's expected these days).

Gower is terrible. Please don't anyone come down here - you'd only hate it. It rains all the time, and there are even Welsh people around. Much better to all go to Cornwall and clog up their roads, beaches and stunning coastline

Visited Scotland twice in space of four weeks last year, first time gold panning with a few mates and the second time with the wife and pooch. The west coast is beautiful, my favourite spot being Knoydart as it's pretty much only accessible via boat despite being mainland.

I got this shot just outside Tyndrum...24 degrees, feet in the cold water, on the hunt for the mother of all nuggets. Wasn't to be...a couple of Hoppy Robson's after with the view made it worthwhile though.

Two inches of rain forecast for today up here, so far that is playing out as predicted. Seems like the wettest winter and spring ever apart from a dry fortnight when the temperatures were sub zero and the ground was frozen solid...

Planning a week or so with some friends out in the wilds of Wales (no clue where yet though) and then a long weekend down visiting some friends in Brighton. Will head back to beautiful Lowestoft as well to visit mother dearest and Nodge for a while to see the sister and some old skool mates.

Should be good :)

Cornwall for us. We went last year and had a lovely time, although it was very busy for obvious reasons. Going outside of school holidays this time which will hopefully be a bit less hectic. We have a place down there as a family so I got in nice and early with my booking this time.

Might seem strange to you folks who live there but I have booked a few days in Ipswich.

I am planning to meet up with friends I haven't seen for a year, get down to Foxhall for some speedway (hopefully) and take in a few pubs in around the town, Woodbridge and Felixstowe.

Doesn't sound strange to me buh. Familiarity breeds contempt, but it's a good base to see Suffolk IMO. Trips out to the coast, Woodbridge, the glorious Suffolk countryside.

As you say if it's a chance to meet up with old pals then that sounds perfect. There's plenty of good pubs in Ipswich and a lot of the town doesn't get the credit it deserves i.e. Christchurch Park and surrounding area and the Waterfront. Like most places it always seems nicer when the sun is shining.

Not been to Foxhall for ages, do they still do the banger racing (covid permitting)? It always felt like a part of ITFC matchday was seeing them on the backs of trucks making their way to the meets as we were driving out of town.

Probably just the old stand-by of Winterton-on-sea just a mile up the coast from Hemsby.

There's a good chippy, a decent pub, superb beach and dunes. Not too far from the Broads and other such niceness and it's only about 2 hours' drive.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Nice try.

It looks bloomin lovely. Got a trip to Brecon beacons I need to 'cash in' before the end of the year. How doable is the two in one day?

I think there should be a Gower appreciation thread.

Clearly not enough people are aware how lovely it is. I didn't know.

Lots of information available online and did you know it has 30 [unspoilt] beaches too?

That's what Gower needs, a Pontins.

And a Butlins.

And more hotels, big hotels, like really big hotels that attract visitors from far and wide.

And more takeaways, double floored McDonalds type takeaways and more pubs, bars, restaurants...

If the festivals get cancelled, it's money back so nothing lost but a lot to look forward to...

Not at all, I have posted a couple of times about my own personal achievement there as a child.

I'm trying to help Gower get some tourism that it so desperately needs:

I've foolishly agreed to spend a week in the tourist hotspot of Haverhill at the end of the summer. If anyone as any ideas how I can get outta this without upsetting the mother feel free to let me know

Must be scared from youth, but I just can't get my head around a UK trip. Seems like a waste of money to me.

I need the weather and the South East has just about the best weather in the UK.

A day trip is fine but a week away in the UK - I would rather work!
