A lot of footballers have to put up with a lot of BS - Chambers deleted his Twitter account almost as quickly as he put it up because people were being nobs, and Jonathan Douglas still has his locked because our fans were tweeting at him calling him a 'fat old cnt' etc - so I don't usually mind players giving a bit back as and when appropriate.

However with Norwood it's all a bit stupid isn't it? Seems to have a habit of posting mild but none-the-less deliberately provocative things then having a go when people respond.

Have had certified def info in the recent past that some of Norwood's antics haven't gone done well at all in some parts of the club (non-playing side). Such is the life of the class clown though - when everything's rosy then everyone gets onboard with the #bantz but when it's not then you make yourself an easy target for criticism.

I don't disagree with that first paragraph at all, there's so much unfair abuse aimed at footballers and the expectation that they just have to sit there and accept it. I have a couple of very good friends in professional football, coming towards the end of their careers and they completely avoid social media for that reason. They shouldn't have to do that, in an ideal world.

I think it's just a more general observation about our squad. The whole Mick 'proper blokes' was always derided on here and wider, but there's so much merit in it. I've defended Judge and Ward quite a lot on here, largely because they're 2 of a handful of players in our squad that seem to have a degree of professionalism about them, they're Mick types (and not just because they're Irish). There's a real petulant underbelly to this squad that I find so unlikeable, both on and off the pitch, and it's not just Norwood and his social media antics.

I think this is the least likeable Ipswich squad I've ever known, and Jewell's were pretty unpalatable at times.

The problem when players react to the fans with a gesture of any sort is it tends to be to all fans by the nature of it being the in stadium (when fans were allowed) or on TV. In reality the people abusing them on Twitter is a 'vocal' minority and not representative of the wider fans.

wish he did his talking on the pitch instead get himself 100 % fit would be a good start! not exactly endearing himself to itfc fans is he, belittling micky mills sat was not funny for me,shows how detached players can be from the real support base.

The bloke's a clown, I generally wouldn't give two hoots about his twitter antics, but when he has been such a let down and not really kept overly professional in the fitness terms then I can't take to the guy.

Yeah the 'proper blokes' dig from sections of the fanbase was always daft - you've got to have people in the club that set, and maintain, a high level of professionalism. Doesn't mean they need to be workhorses with a personality vacuum either - you mentioned the Burley years and you hear any of those players speak now and they all say the team was full of great lads but they never let the standards slip.

Agree about the squad in general - we're seeing the end result of what happens when a disconnected owner allows an uninterested manager to stay well past his due. With each game I feel less and less bothered about any of the players leaving. Even some of Mick's filler players you'd feel you could shake their hand and thank them for the job they did, now I really couldn't care less about most of them.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Still all seems personal attacks based on hearsay and interpretation.

Slating his fitness is an odd one, been injured but when on the pitch seemed to close down opponents more than most.

People don’t deserve abuse on SM when there’s genuine vitriol intended and many of our so called fans seem to dish this out and be offended when there’s a pushback by the target.

Criticism is and should be accepted by all, but the level it gets to is endemic of many fans who f clubs now and it’s not pretty. It’s beyond immediate reaction to disappointment.

Just really strange behaviour from him. Social media adds so little to people's lives compared to the massive downsides.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

The attacks about his fitness stem from lockdown last year where he clearly didn't keep himself in shape and that has caused a knock on effect this season where he just keeps breaking down.

Had he spent lockdown 1 actually trying to keep in shape he might not be suffering such injuries

Instead he was in the garden pissed up bbqing

He did spend lockdown getting into shape.......it’s just that the shape was a bag of King Edwards.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

Definitely. A quick look at his stats and he managed 40+ games three years in a row for Tranmere before signing here. Be lucky for him to get 25 appearances this season. (Currently on 21).

Did you see that state of him when he came on against Pompey in the FA cup?

He was carrying more timber than a lorry dropping off at Jewson.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

How's he going to achieve that? By getting fit, playing well and getting a contract with Borussia Munchengladbach, or by dragging the others down to the same level and them all going semi-pro earning more from building work than their Saturday/Sunday job?
