I just don’t see what is to be gained by continuously throwing the players under the bus, just my opinion.
It doesn’t mean I think the job is any bigger or smaller than others, or that I’ll be disappointed when the vast majority of the out of contract players are released
I’m loving what I am hearing from the new owners, have listened to, quite literally, every public word they’ve spoken across all the platforms and can’t wait to see them out their vision into place, and looking forward to hearing from Ashton in time as he is the absolute key man it seems, but I’m just finding a lot of what Cook says unnecessary in my view |
When you've had success everywhere you've been and built up a good reputation but are seeing it being eroded by a bunch of players who are not fighting for you , the club and the fans I can perfectly understand why he would throw them under the bus. |  | | |

Ah so now PC is a liar as well as a bad manager,
He's being asked questions in press conferences and he's ran out of excuses for the players, he has to say something, so the choices are be honest or refuse to do them... now we know how you would react if he refused to do them.
I think his honesty should make people like you, Haynes etc feel more relaxed about things other than PC suddenly being worse than Hurst, worse than Lambert etc, when clearly PC isn't in charge of a 'normal' group of hungry ready to go players and no amount of smiles and jokes from PC would change that. OP: We can only imagine what’s going on at the Vlub right now . I think Cook has been amazingly patient with this group of players , who quite clearly have demonstrated that they are not happy about the fact they will not be part of the Club’s plans going forward , and who’s fault is that ?

Cook came in with a total commitment to get us promoted . It shoukd hdd as ve bern well within reach . New manager bounce and all that . So what happens ? This team TOTALLY CAPITULATES! And have repeated this form in just about every single game since PC took over .

Yep, some of those in this squad that everyone seems to despise with all their being will be part of there squad next year. Some of those who will be here next year are seeing their friends and colleagues being called out as unprofessional etc.
We all know there will be a massive clear out in the summer, it was always going to be the case - personally I’ve not liked what I’ve seen on or off the pitch so far and am not taking much glee in this.

He's being asked the questions. I think his honesty is refreshing. We all used to hate Lambert's platitudes didn't we? It was getting silly, to the point of barefaced lies. And it never worked. You could tell these players they're more beautiful than unicorns and they still wouldn't shoot. |  |

I'm glad he's throwing them under the bus, in fact I'm glad that after doing it, he climbed into the drivers seat and backed the bus up over them too.

They are only a shame on the club if they are genuinely not good enough. I do think somehow we have been coned into thinking our young players are world beaters at this level.
The frustration I guess will be if they are able to pick up contracts elsewhere and then shine. Perhaps the shame will then be on the individuals who were unable to coach and get the best out of them.

Look at McGolrick - constantly McSicknote here but goes to Sheffield United and regularly appears on the pitch. Look at Emmanuel - don’t think anyone was really upset to see him go but he’s doing a very good job at Hull. Graham did nothing here but is performing for Gillingham.
An awful fitness regime, constantly changing tactics, gaping holes in the squad meaning we’re consistently lacking any form of balance, a manager who reportedly barely spoke to players followed by one who hangs them out to dry (for the latter many will argue reasonably), knowing that you won’t be on a wage come the summer and if you break a leg that might be it for your career, seeing friends on that very same precipice... but instead it’s easier (and apologies this isn’t just aimed at you) to call them sulking brats, parasites, tosspots, leaches...

I wasn’t intending to lump Cook in with the decisions made prior to his joining - I was agreeing with you that the rot had set in well before and there are actual examples of players who didn’t look much cop or constantly injured here going elsewhere and putting a marker down which we wouldn’t have expected them to. I suspect the same will happen with some of the current squad.
I also wouldn’t absolve the players of any responsibility, just not all responsibility. Other than the new owners I’d say all those involved in the last three seasons, if not longer in some cases (Evans) have had a role to play in where we are now and that most definitely includes the players. | |

Also, had Cook actually been able to get a vague resemblance of a performance out of any of our players he wouldn't be saying the same stuff he is now. He's saying it because it's in his interest to do so, it protects his position. I dont blame him for that, a manager who comes in and has such an awful 12 games to begin with is always going to go on the defensive. | | | |

I think that is hugely revisionist re: Hurst.
From my recollection there were serious misgivings very quickly. Certainly as soon as per-season started and people saw how he behaved and how the players were ‘responding’ to that.
I vividly remember watching pre-season at Barnet and thinking 1) Waghorn is off, and 2) This bloke is out of his depth. Somebody else posted stuff about a game at Braintree (I think) where Hursts pre game set up looked Sunday league. |  | | |
