Anyone starting to get slightly annoyed with Cook's comments? 14:45 - Apr 23 with 5701 viewsITFC_96

I don't think throwing the players under the bus is helping anything at this point.

If he thinks all the players are crap or have no motivation then why does he keep picking them? He has been mentioning it for a month now and the virtually the same players are starting every game.

I think eh will be our most divisive manager yet. Many fans have adopted him as religiously as they did Lambert, he was the one everyone wanted to so to be wrong on Cook is impossible in some supporters minds already.

Chalk and cheese. Lambert was viewed as a steady hand to stabilise the ship after a period of instability. He brought stability in meeting Evans's expectations. Cook is here to make positive things happen and if he needs to be divisive at times to get rid of the ethos of mediocrity and build something better that's fine by me.

He's got a track record of laying into his teams when they don't perform.

And yet, he comes here, with success managing in that manner, and some of our support think they know how to man manage our feckless players better than Cook.

It'll be interesting to see how many of these posts re emerge this time next year.

"And yet, he comes here, with success managing in that manner, and some of our support think they know how to man manage our feckless players better than Cook."

So far he's shown he can manage THIS squad of players worse than Paul Lambert can.

Let's hope he's much better with the next squad of players. He certainly needs to be.

Nope I’m happy.

If I was told everything is ok then it would mean that I’d spend the whole summer crying myself to sleep of the thought of our 6 “other” strikers scoring 6 goals between them in 70 games next season.

The only players of note in our squad to have played for McCarthy are Chambers, Skuse and Sears, so to say he "signed most of it" is complete nonsense of the highest order.

You state you think the cause of our malaise is Evans and/or lack of sports science, yet are now happy to blame Cook after just 6 weeks at the club?

These are the ramblings of a lunatic.

No problem with PC and his approach

I was sacked when I was 16 for not working hard enough and it was the best lesson I have ever had

No. Needed to be said

People should now realise the depths of the club problems when it comes to this squad of 'football players'

Come back to a load of down arrows. Tearing into players 2 games in as a new manager of the team does nothing. Players who will be recruited to replace those already here aren't going to be keen on the manager if he never takes some of the responsibility too. The team has been badly coached for several years, chopping and changing players and formations, pointless loans, many injuries...

Yes, their performances have been bad but the team didn't suddenly turn crap overnight.

No not overnight, it's taken many months, years even of creeping crapitude to to get as crap as they have been this season.

Yes, I am amazed so many fans are just eating up after what we've had happen before. The logic was that Paul Lambert failed to deliver because he had the best squad in the league and failed to be promoted. They forget to mention the drastic under-funding by Evans, despite the lack of restrictions in League One, and the under funding of the medical aspect of the club leading to injury issues and the under funding of the overall fitness aspect. These issues are now all the players fault according to the supporters who had up until just a few months ago had blamed the manager for all these problems and repeated the same thing, that we had the best squad in the league. Now Cook has arrived they have all become mercenaries and terrible apparently yet nobody is connecting the dots. We also keep hearing that it's Lambert's squad but if you look who signed most of it, it was Mick McCarthy and a fair few had played in the Championship at a decent level for years like Ward, Chambers, Skuse, Bishop, Sears and Huws yet now these players are all suddenly terrible over night.

The problem I have with this is that usually, when a new manager AND new owners come in, surely there is a will and want to succeed more under the new guys to show just how impressive you can be not only as individuals but as a team?
This team hasn't done ANYTHING to prove to the owners they deserve a place.

That doesn’t mean we should just accept everything which comes out of his mouth at face value. He won’t throw players under the bus... he turns around and does just that. He says the players are trying and tiredness is the only issue... he then says they don’t care. He says that the blame stops at him... and then spends further interviews deflecting it towards the players at a rate of knots.

He’s a man full of contradictions and confusion; from a personal point of view I’m not surprised the players have downed tools as, if I worked for him, I’d hardly feel motivated either. Admittedly the same could be said for Hurst and Lambert!

He has an opportunity to rebuild the squad in the summer and we’ll start again from August. Despite the above I am still looking forward it as a clear out is exactly what the club needs. But today’s interview has just confirmed for me that Cook has checked out for this season as much as the players have, otherwise he wouldn’t be speaking about them in this manner.

There eventually comes a time when you can bite your tongue no longer.
He’s tried everything with these tw@ts, and they just can’t be motivated.
I’m sick to death with every one of them.

Yep, some of those in this squad that everyone seems to despise with all their being will be part of there squad next year. Some of those who will be here next year are seeing their friends and colleagues being called out as unprofessional etc.

We all know there will be a massive clear out in the summer, it was always going to be the case - personally I’ve not liked what I’ve seen on or off the pitch so far and am not taking much glee in this.

I’m looking forward to where we will be come August, but not enjoying this at the moment

No-one's enjoying it Joe, but I thought you, more than some on here, would appreciate how big a job it is to turn this club around, and how patience is massively, massively required (with both Cook and the plans of the new owners).

You understand football. You understand how this club has been dying a death by a 1000 cuts for years, and there is so much wrong in so many areas (from the ability to put the ball in the onion bag, right down to how you get a thin piece of tissue to hold your hotdog).

Who was that bloke who use to come in and fix failing businesses? He'd make a whole series out of ITFC and call it The Sh!t Show.

What would you enjoy, beyond a good win with free flowing football? Nobody enjoys the carnage that’s going on, but somebody had to do it. If this had been done years ago we wouldn’t be mid table Peterborough United fodder now. Easy meat for Gillingham, Swindon and anyone organised. Don’t know about you, but I wish I followed a better team than mine. Hell, there are 50+ of them. But it’s not the way it goes. I want better of my club.

Why so many better than us? Too many people have indicated deep seated problems that go back many many years. Players who were at the club years before Cook have alluded to it. I get that it’s neat to blame the bloke that’s been there for 12 weeks. I get that in an ideal world he’d have the team playing total football, Holland 78 too. But that’s not the way it goes.

The Cook ‘outers’ are growing in number and it feels a bit like an upgrade on lets pick on a player, Knudsen style. 12 games with somebody else’s team and people are all over him for saying it as he sees it. Personally I think Cook is right to expose these well paid frauds. Those who are not frauds will step up. They are adults. They have four dead rubber games to prove their worth. It’s a hard old competitive world out there as a few as are about to find out. That has to be good.

I just don’t see what is to be gained by continuously throwing the players under the bus, just my opinion.

It doesn’t mean I think the job is any bigger or smaller than others, or that I’ll be disappointed when the vast majority of the out of contract players are released

I’m loving what I am hearing from the new owners, have listened to, quite literally, every public word they’ve spoken across all the platforms and can’t wait to see them out their vision into place, and looking forward to hearing from Ashton in time as he is the absolute key man it seems, but I’m just finding a lot of what Cook says unnecessary in my view

You find it unnecessary for a manager to be honest about the problems within the club that he has no control over.. perhaps to try and stop people like yourself questionning his ability and to relax and look forward to the summer.

It's almost like you don't want to hear the truth about the players.

PC came in and played the softy softy card, it did nothing
he's now moving on and trying to see out the season with a bunch of players with 0 interests in playing the sport they are paid to play

And all you can do is moan about him saying it, rather than aiming that disappointment at the players you're for some reason defending.

Yes, and also just because he says it doesn’t make it ‘the truth’.

What is it achieving other than firing people up to just abuse the players on here constantly? Is that making anything better?

The majority are going to be released anyway.

Ah so now PC is a liar as well as a bad manager,

He's being asked questions in press conferences and he's ran out of excuses for the players, he has to say something, so the choices are be honest or refuse to do them... now we know how you would react if he refused to do them.

I think his honesty should make people like you, Haynes etc feel more relaxed about things other than PC suddenly being worse than Hurst, worse than Lambert etc, when clearly PC isn't in charge of a 'normal' group of hungry ready to go players and no amount of smiles and jokes from PC would change that.

No. We've been saying the same thing all season and rightly slating Lambert for saying the opposite.

Now we have a manager saying what we've all said and thats wrong too.

If he was saying their all good we'd be asking what he's seeing that no one else can.

Let the man do his job in the summer first
