Funnily enough I’m not the manager. I don’t instruct the team on how to train, see how players react to instructions, I’m not the one having conversations with them and man managing them. It’s not as simple as “what 11 would you select”.
I don’t think it’s out there to say whatever Cook has done since coming in, it’s been pretty bad in terms of trying to achieve promotion this year. That doesn’t mean he won’t be a success going forward. | | | |

Not really sure what you are trying to achieve here. The managers role in football is the tactics, our tactics are resulting in no goals and 1 shot on target per game. If you argue that the manager isn't responsible for changing that then it seems you don't see the point in having a manager. It is an odd argument |

Well it's bleedingly obvious to me that the tactics are letting us get into some pretty good positions, but the players are unable to capitalise and make things happen. They struggle to cross, struggle to control the ball sometimes and and are too frightened to actually shoot with any conviction even when in the box. Plenty of half opportunities this half though. |  |

I think its pretty concerning that we're going to be putting our entire rebuilding job in the hands of a manager who's made us worse than our last manager who was widely seen as our worst manager in living memory.
My hope is that the decisions are primarily based from people like Ashton and that changing a manager early on next season wouldn't cause a massive disruption, should it be required. | | | |

Yes it was raining goals, wasn’t it. Headers, tap ins, 30 yard top corner jobs. You know, I couldn’t keep up. I particularly enjoyed the four and five goal run of games January, February. The only logical explanation for our form under Cook is if *the first time he spoke to the players* he told them that *every single one of them* was for the chop. Then our form would make sense, but that would have been pretty dreadful man-management by Cook if true.
Otherwise, we are taking one hell of a gamble, because I for one don't believe that if he gets it wrong, a new manager will then have access to the funds he had. Dreadful memories of Roy Keane come to mind at this point.
I hope I'm very much wrong, and in six month's time things will be incredibly different, but I just don't buy into the argument that our performance isn't down to the manager in any way shape or form. |  | | |

I agree. I said a couple of weeks ago i'd tell the team to shoot on sight. Our lack of goals in incredible really. We were playing Wimbledon. We've played some bang average sides and done nothing. We could literally have said just go all out attack, forget the defensive side, just throw everything at it like it's the last 5 minutes of a play off final and we're 1-0 down. What did we have to lose?
I like Cook and think he'll be good with his own squad but there's no question he should have had more impact. He's thrown the squad to the wolves to preserve his reputation. I actually believe that's fair and they've let him down badly but next season he really needs to prove himself. He's getting less out of this squad than Lambert.

I totally agree with you, come what may I truly believe Cook should be here until the end of next season at the least, however I also think he should try and throw us a few scraps at the end of a very painful season. |  |

Id expect the manager to blueprint the sort of player and style he's after and for the CEO and scouting team to identify the players that match that style and sign them. I expect little involvement past that from the manager.
Its worked well for the likes of Southampton, oh and Norwich have benefitted from it massively. | | | |
