I was told today that he’s refused to train the players all week except from today, this would explain why the players were all out on the booze earlier in the week.

well youd hope so wouldnt you...but Ive ridden past the training ground 3 days this past week, and ride past it regularly and theres normally always something going on, and yet today has been the only day it looked like there was any real activity happening, Wednesday the place looked almost like a post season/lockdown, gates shut, no cars, so there might be something in it.
It’s true mate, the players haven’t trained at all week, except from today.

That's the only credible fact. Your spin on the reasons are pure conjecture.
No spin at all intended, the exact words that were used to tell me were “Cook has refused to train the players this week” in which I stated I don’t think is unprofessional as it gives the players time off to socialise.

I mean Cook's paid to train the players currently here to the best of his ability and the players are paid to prepare for and play in football matches, dead rubbers or not. You can argue it doesn't really matter, but it would be pretty much the definition of unprofessional to just take a week off.

Which is why it seems unlikely to me.

That’s fair enough, I do see where you’re coming from.
I guess my view, hardly any of these players are going to be here next year, tomorrow’s game doesn’t mean anything for either team, so not training benefits all parties.

I don’t doubt that.
But there’s a lot of difference in saying Cook refused to train them to saying that he gave them time off. One suggests they wanted to train and he wouldn’t do it, the other that he simply thought it was better to give them time off. The two things don’t sound the same to me, so I’m still none the wiser as to what actually happened.

And neither is Parky. The manager gave the players a few days off. Only he knows why.

I heard the same thing also. Don't think it's "rest". Coincides with apparently making his mind up on all the players. He's also downed tools at this point.

Pronouns: He/Him/His.
"Imagine being a heterosexual white male in Britain at this moment. How bad is that. Everything you say is racist, everything you say is homophobic. The Woke community have really f****d this country."
If training hasnt taken place. Perhaps it's more of a sit down week with talks taking place etc and PC mentioned the negativity around the club perhaps hes trying to limit it upto each of the final 3 games.
It would be interesting to know if this is true regarding training if he only invited those due to play or all.

Maybe, like I said above, there was no spin intended.
All I was told was “Cook has refused to train the players this week”. - I then gave my opinion saying I don’t think it’s unprofessional as it allows unwanted players time off to socialise. I don’t think it would happen if we were playing a team with something to play for.

It’s not great is it! Whatever the reasons to give up, not to bother about the last few games is not a good look from Cook. His job is to seek to win games for the club and if he hasn’t had the players in for training, teaching them about the opposition, what to job for and how to counter it, etc, etc, then effectively he’s not doing his job.
I don’t for one minute want him out and he has my full support, but he’s made some strange decisions in his first few weeks here. All comes across a bit like Phil Parkinson or Ian Holloway! Never really seen or heard anything like it. It’s a risky strategy because if his new team take a while to get going next season he’s used up a lot of goodwill.
I doubt there’s anything in it. If he did give them time off, remember that they’ve been playing twice a week for some time, the season is all but done, a lot of change has happened and will continue to do so. It may be that they’ve been given time out to reflect on their futures. Who knows. Whilst the speculation is fun, Nah, nothing to see here and even if there is I doubt there is any reason to put the boot on the players or manager on this one.

My intentions weren’t to put the boot on anyone, FWIW. Just passing on some information which I found quite interesting, the players have only trained once this week.

But in truth Parky, by adding ‘Paul Cook really hates these players’ reads something into the facts that we don’t really know was there. Do we honestly know that he ‘refused’ to take training because he hates the players? Truth is that we don’t really know why he didn’t have them in.

That may will be a fact but no need to keep adding fiction to the mix.

I see your point. The way I was told was literally: “Paul Cook has refused to train the players this week”.
Probably should’ve worded it better, but again my intentions weren’t to spin anything, I was just giving my opinion that by not training them, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s unprofessional as it allows unwanted players time off etc.
