Agree but don't think it's unfair to point out that in the TWTD universe certain posters are held in high esteem and their words do influence people.

Very much doubt it. Don't think this can be pinned on Evans. The new guys have ownership of this.

Decent promotion for Ian Craney.... on 15:14 - May 14 by pointofblue | Ah ok. In a way I can see a sort of logic with the hiring - take green coaches who have not had another set up drilled into them (well, Jeffers has to an extent, I suppose) and mould them to his will, rather than bringing in an experienced coach who may have different ideas. No idea if it will work out or not! |
That's clutching at straws a little.

Look at the people the owners have appointed as C level operations managers/directors, and the people Cook has brought in. Night and day.

You're one of the posters on here whose opinion carries weight and if you turn early there's going to be a lot of others who are desperately waiting for the first acceptable moment turn as well. We're just going to have to trust Cook and his judgement. |
Cook has to earn the trust, I'm not just going to back him blindly because he has done a good job elsehwere

No offence intended to Joe or anyone else, but I think they’ll only influence if those peopLe have misgivings already and want to be influenced, though. Look at the a,pint of push back which has gone towards any post questioning Cook or the direction the club is going in - especially the approach towards the players.

Maybe they can’t. Maybe Cook has it iron clad in his contract that he makes all the decisions at that level and that contract has just been TUPEd into the new ownership, and there’s nothing they can do about it. It’s a strong possibility.

Of course, but he has now made a rod for his own back with his lack of performance last season - people are happy to stick every ounce of blame on to the players but I'm not. The American's will be giving him less time than I am, they want to go up next season - that has to be the minimum expectation......it can't be the constant lowering of them as happeend under Lambert

Quite. I do feel it's rather extreme to be calling into question EVERYTHING Paul Cook's doing. He is the most qualified and proven manager at this level in the last decade. Let's just chill our beans and see how the next six or seven weeks pan out.

Decent promotion for Ian Craney.... on 15:29 - May 14 by itfcjoe | That is 4 now for first team, and you have to assume a GK will join them. I wonder if there will even be an assistant manager now or goes with what he has. I can't say I'm particularly thrilled with the Jeffers appointment for the stuff away from football, but he has volunteered to get into coaching, and held down a job at a decent setup since then - I've concerns he hasn't had much senior experience, but ultimately he has had 5 years 'on the grass' which is massive. Neither Roberts, nor Craney, have shown any appetite to coach, neither have done their badges, neither have put in the time on the grass required to push themselves on. Coaching isn't all about badges, but Mick Mills was making good points on Suffolk post Fleetwood game that you need a good coach who can set up his own sessions, who can keep the players engaged, who can keep things ticking over whilst the manager oversees......and that isn't easy. I'm sure plenty on here have coached kids teams, even at that level it's tough when you have to get sessions set up, make sure everyone is active, make sure people aren't getting bored - times that by 100 for first team footballers.....you hear them talk about coaches on things like Undr The Cosh etc, if a coach isn't up to it they get found out in about 30 seconds and won't gain that respect back |
I'm similarly wondering re an assistant manager. Don't think Kieron is now going to be involved in the first-team staff.

Agreed, its not knee jerk. Cook has had a quarter of a season of poor results behind him, and is making some decisions that makes people raise an eyebrow.

Is it possible that Craney is replacing Pullen as kitman and they're just being crafty with his job title? It'll be massive blow for me if Kieron isn't involved. Have been so impressed with his press stuff of late, including how he spoke on BT Sport following the U18s semi-final the other night. We desperately need someone who understands this club to be part of the setup.
