...thoughts and prayers for Tory MP Lee Anderson who's missed seeing England roar into the semi finals because he's boycotting their matches over them making a 15 second anti-racism gesture.

Felt so good to see our players taking a knee in Rome last night while the unenlightened looked on confused and angry.

It’s a simple message that’s easy to follow and it goes something like this,

Don’t be a racist. End of message.

I can't imagine any of these players taking the knee then going on to give someone racist abuse during the game.

Imagine if this had been done decades ago, if John Terry had taken the knee in support of an ant-racist message. Would he then have gone on to say what he was reputed to have said to Anton Ferdinand? I think it unlikely, and if he had the outcry would have been even stronger.

Don't boil a kettle on a boat.

I hope we win the whole thing and we can celebrate the knee gesture in all its glory, the awful
Priti Patel et al should be ashamed of the stance they took on this. And should NOT suddenly associate with the teams glory. Which they will.

You don't need to say 'reputed' before 'to have said to Anton Ferdinand', Terry admitted uttering the words - but only as a refutation to Ferdinand's (alleged) using the same words in a 'that's what you think I am' provocation. It remains a sad, confusing and unresolved incident and with unpleasant afters in language used by Rio Ferdinand towards Ashley Cole.

In a similar vein, Darren Grimes has been jumping on the bandwagon. Not sure how he’s been watching the games though considering that he told everyone he had cancelled his TV license for the Defund the BBC campaign a few months back...

Yeah, but I bet his mother hasn’t cancelled hers.

I can honestly say that everyone i know is apathetic about taking the knee. It has run its course.

It's been greatly appreciated by large numbers of my non-white and/or overseas colleagues who been contending with an ever more xenophobic and intolerant public for the last fews years, though.

Who cares what you, I or your friends think. It's up to the players, shirley?

I'm guessing that they aren't thinking in terms of "apathy" and "run it's course".

If you and your friends are bored because you are finding an anti-racism message boring, then tough titties because it's not about you (unless you and friends are those with "concerns").

If the players feel that they want to do something different in the future, that's up to them.

I don't.

Every time they take the knee the players doing it, those they are playing against and the people watching all have to think, if only for a second or two, about why they are doing it.

That won't stop.

The PM, Tory Ministers, MPs and various other right wing types seemed to care enough in the media.

It is very funny that those that said they will refuse to watch, won’t be able to see their team in action.
