Boats, paddling, lots of lovely old house to visit, old trains to rides and some surprisingly posh pubs to visit. Wordsworth's house is nice. We went to Barrow to discover the house of some old author - probably don;t go to Barrow.

Edit: There's a nice old mine you can go and look at and do gold panning with the kids too.

Edit2: even if you're just looking at lakes, its wonderful!

I’ve never been there for pretty much this reason. I can walk around and see lakes at Abberton.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Hehe.

In similar news, I've never bothered going to Chamonix - why bother, when the Bourne Hill Ski Centre is so convenient?

You could walk about looking at mountains....

If you like a bit more action then you could do Via Ferrata at Honister - https://honister.com/product/via-ferrata-xtreme/

if you want museums, there are loads.

Couple of steam trains...

YOu could go and see the ospreys at Foulshaw moss, or bassenthwaite.

There really is something for everyone ( although the beaches aren't the best)

Just go on nice walks and stop and take everything in once in a while. Always something new or different to see. Nature is pretty cool.
