Yeah, I don't get the love for the Copa shirts, particularly those based on the Adidas kits. The conspicuous absence of the three stripes and trefoil make them look like a standard item of club leisure wear, imo.

I don't get how they can get the pin stripes so wrong, considering they have produced the home and away versions previously. It's exactly the same template. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

In an idea world Adidas would produce a limited number of this shirt in its ‘original’ glory. Can’t cost too much for them to actually do this.

Yes, the original had 10 pin stripes from armpit to armpit with one either side of the v neck… whereas this Copas one only has about 6, with one centrally aligned from the v neck.

Those 4 missing lines obviously didn't want to fight for their place.

Or some dodgy knock off you'd see at a market. Bizarre that the club would put their name to this nonsense.

The only Copa one I’ve bought is the red and black striped one. Other than that I’ve not actually been that keen on them, usually due to those kinds of missing detail.

The Punch 2000 one is very accurate, as is the cream and black one - I don't have them but they are very nicely done I've also got the 78 cup final one, that's an excellent quality shirt, it misses the trefoil but you simply can't get replica shirts from that era. They are really good quality shirts, a great partnership

I guess the punch ones had the benefit of being an own brand type of thing so more detail allowed, didn’t they, unlike any based on Adidas/Umbro originals?

Think they were able to use the kit manufacturer which makes a big difference

Latest Copa shirt on 09:34 - Jul 23 by hoppy | The thing that confuses me with this one, I’m hoping someone can fill in the detail… We used that design from 1981-84 in the blue home and white away kit, with Pioneer as sponsors. We then changed to the France style red band and 3 horizontal white bands from 84-86 (84/85 still with pioneer, and then 85/86 with Radio Orwell. When did we actually use this orange pinstripe shirt, given that it was the previous shirt design, but has Radio Orwell as sponsor - did we revert to that design for a 3rd shirt during 85/86 because the red band that was on both the home and away shirts wouldn’t work on the orange? Or did we actually use it during the 81-84 period, but with radio Orwell as sponsors for it - as it still has the “UEFA CUP WINNERS” below the badge. [Post edited 23 Jul 2021 9:40]

A sponsorless version of the kit was used away to Luton (FA Cup 4th round 1982), Buther got a blooded nose and ended up in hospital. https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/football-fa-cup-4th-round-luton- I assume it was always held over from season to season as 3rd choice, in the event that we played someone in blue/white stripes/half/hoops. Not sure it ever got used more than a handful of times over that period. Not only that we had a red/black striped shirt that had the Pioneer sponsor during 84/85 season, but must have gone back to the pinstripe version when Radio Orwell took over sponsorship.
