Don’t all footballers in this country pay PAYE on their salaries? Things like image rights FIFA Pepsi etc will be different sure, but I think their basic pay from their employer is paid like any other salary with deductions at source. |  |

They also tend to buy up and coming players hitting their peak - 8 of their top 10 fees were for players aged 25 or under. Kane just doesn’t fit the profile that they’ve typically gone after, and that’s before you factor in that Pep finally got his long-desired strikerless setup to gel last season

It was reported back when Pep signed his new contract in the autumn that one of the conditions was that the Man City board would seriously pursue Kane. And as for the striker-less thing, Kane suits the false 9 role pretty well. He just needs fast wingers either side of him, which City have in Sterling and Torres. |  |

I agree, but it depends who it is. If it’s someone like Ake or Mendy then fair enough as they’re unlikely to get in the City starting 11 and will still have the chance at winning some (albeit smaller) trophies at Spurs. | |
