All things said, it's definitely a helluva disappointing start and a real come down from the signings and being linked with Crooks / Celina.

I know it's going to take time but still seems we have as many problems in our team as encouraging signs and promise

Hardly surprising given our current “ defence” is it . Most players still haven’t actually played together yet, some even introducing themselves on the team bus going up tk Burton last night. Plus our new CB’s either still to sign on the dotted line , or be given the shirt having been in the Club for a week……not that any of the W @ - NKERS that will flounce on here will accept this.

Town won’t be up and running until the New Year. If we make the top 6 this season io will be an achievement. FACT.

We've got a new ownership that has not bought and invested on and off the pitch for us to be a Div 3 project.

Promotion needs to happen at the end of this season.

FACT.

My memory is not once what it was but didn't we start our 1st 2 seasons in this league quite well and then it all went pear shaped.

So maybe a bit different this season, a slow start and pick things up as we progress through the season with a strong finish.

Can only live in hope.

Nail on head. Have an uppie.

A blistering start does not a successful season guarantee. Look at 93/4. Three wins out of three, and yet we only stayed up thanks to Mark Stein.

And how many times did we start slowly under Burley? For several seasons on the trot, we'd dawdle out (In 98/99 didn't win or indeed score until league game 5) whilst the yellow fools went off at a rocket. Then it gets to about November, and off we go, just as they start to stumble. We pass them in January and finish in the play offs, they finish about 15th.

Oh, and as for 1961/62...first three games was a draw and two losses....

Well, weve now recruited a whole squad for PC so need to stick with him and hope both last season and the start of this season arent representative of PCs entire time here.

Like we did with Paul Hurst, you mean?

This season is mirroring Hurst's - a last minute draw at home to a newly promoted side, a 1-0 defeat to a team from a lower league in the Cup followed by a late defeat in the first away game.

Another similarity is that we are buying lower league players with a question mark against whether or not they are good enough.

No we’re not. That’s not true in any sense of the word. We have bought Hladky and that is it.

We are lower league getting players from the championship.

Well, League One and League One - and the Scottish Premiership - are lower leagues in my book. I’ve just cut and pasted the list of ins and outs, and there are seven that fit the bill.

Wes Burns - Fleetwood
Lee Evans - Wigan
Callum Page - Needham Market
Rekeem Harper - West Brom
Macauley Bonne - QPR (loan)
Vaclav Hladky - Salford
Matt Penney - Sheffield Wednesday
Joe Pigott - AFC Wimbledon
Scott Fraser - MK Dons
George Edmundson - Rangers
Conor Chaplin - Barnsley
Louie Barry - Aston Villa (loan)
Sone Aluko - Reading
Kyle Edwards - West Brom
Hayden Coulson - Middlesbrough (loan)

Well yes but that doesn't make the game any more enjoyable. We only had one proper chance and that was the penalty.

I'm still positive we'll turn it around but right now it's painful.

“Painful”??? A touch melodramatic, no?

It’s pretty difficult to usurp Bluefish as being the biggest d*ck on here but well done, you’ve surpassed him and in record time too.

Yes shame on Gamechanger and Cook not making a suitable offer for Messi.

If you think these signings are comparable to the L1 and L2 signings Hurst made I'd suggest you don't watch much football and have no idea.

I'm not too overly worried yet. Our defence is not very good but look at it. We've potentially got 1 player out of the 4 who will starting soon?

We are getting chances to score (unlike a lot of the last few seasons) and if we score the penalty, we probably win the game!

I didn't watch it so i know that automatically means I can't have an opinion, but I think we have to give it 10 games and see where we are.

As people have said, the last 2 seasons we started off great, and then are woeful for the last 4-5 months. Maybe this season will be a bit of the reverse.

I think some people have built us up to "we will beat everyone" and we won't (yet anyway )

I think the biggest thing for me is that so many people are going so OTT with any people who have said previously things haven’t started well. I worry people aren’t looking at what is actually happening and are just saying ‘trust the process’

First half today we couldn’t play out at all, why we didn’t mix it up I’ll never know. It was so frustrating to watch

Dobra and Edwards bright spots - but felt a step backwards with regards to patterns of play and partnerships forming

Cook has shown he is unable or unwilling to adapt. Look at last season where he completely failed to get the best (or anything like it) out of a limited squad and ultimately performed worse than PR Paul. He is totally wedded to his 4-2-3-1 system and will refuse to waiver from it now he has his own players. If things continue to get worse then I genuinely don't believe Cook has the gall or bravery to admit he was wrong and change tact. He will live and die by his own philosophy.

Heard today a number of sports analysists and commentary labeling the team as title favorites. That is, to finish in #1 position by May, not just to be promoted back to championship level.

That's crap though, (and) clearly from a neutral perspective. Most if not all fans here would have admit a month back the team would be highly unlikely to finish League Champions. Maybe it's effecting the team a little, putting pressure on to do something that in all truth we won't achieve.

Got a point in time to judge Cook by Halloween, think by then we'll possess a good enough understanding of what the remainder of season has for us and whether the manager really was the right choice as some would have insisted.

End of year seems a bit far off to make judgments but it's clear even only a few games in and what with the managers tenure since Lambert took off, disappointment and anger within certain sections of the fanbase is tangible.

You are joking, aren’t you. Having a laugh n all that. You’ve got to be.

You are saying that last season’s squad of dysfunctional wasters, now mostly plying their trade at a lower level, has been replaced with poorer players. So Conference level then. Wow

As yet another outer, who do you want to replace Cook? Mourinho has a job in Italy now and Pep seems happy where he is.

No, not for me. As I said yesterday, came away from that game very deflated. We didn't put one good chance together, I genuinely expected more.

The first half in particular was very poor, we didn't threaten at all. Second half was better but still lacked any sort of end product.

Hopefully just a bad day at the office and we'll pick up a win soon.

I disagree - if anything Cook switched and changed too quickly last season to try and get something to work, leading to the players being unsure and confused about what their roles were. In hindsight he should have stuck to what he knew and I say this as someone who thought, at the time, he needed to try different things out.

Similar to the Morecambe game by the sounds of it, except against a better side away from home. I know a lot of people seem to think we played Morecambe off the park but we really didn't, we created a couple of chances and that was it.

no question that it's disappointing in terms of results after 2 games. Still think there's a lot to be excited about in terms of the players brought in and the potential of the team but equally potential has to turn into achievement before too long. We all have slightly different views on how long it should take before the team settles down but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect us to be performing and getting results that equate to top 6 performance after 8 - 10 games. if we're not doing it by then excuses are going to sound very lame
