Just had a thought, seeing the thread about Dozzell Snr making his debut and then going back to school on Monday - which one of the Ipswich schools has provided the most players?

The only ones I know for sure are:

Dozzell x2, Bonne: Chantry
Dyer: Westbourne
Richard Wright: Thurleston

Suspect a fair few from the 70s and early would have gone to Northgate or the old Landseer School.

Liam Trotter went to Northgate as well as Hyam I think.

Bailey Clements too I believe

Wasn't there a lad in 80s that didn't make it at Ipswich but did have a pro career else where Bobby someone?

Where did David Barnes go to school? Wasn't he an Ipswich boy?

He was a schoolboy but not a youth team member.

Slightly splitting hairs but fair enough! I meant he'd played for the club at some level, whether he ever made a South East Counties League appearance I'm not sure. If I remember rightly he was let go at 16.

Pretty sure Louie Donowa was Thurleston, as was Ruel Fox, who was very much one who got away.

Andre Dozzell was Copleston if I am not mistaken.

Luke Hyam - Northgate.

Jordan Rhodes - Kesgrave.

My bro-in-law had a 16 year career at Conference / L2 level, he was St Jo's.

Thurleston, where legends are made.

What a place that was, knocked it all down now!

Me included.

There was lad in the year above us who went to WBA on YTS terms but I don't think got any further than that.

Also a lad a couple of years below me in my brother's year who was at ITFC as a YTS (or whatever it was in the mid-90s) who played locally.

Also think this thread is forgetting the Brambles who I think were Holywells.

Great stuff. A lad in my year who is now a very good player locally - think for Stowmarket - was with Town in his youth and played against JET when he was at Arsenal and Jonjo Shelvey when at Charlton.

Are you a Crofts/Whitton lad ITFC?

He had the last laugh, that's for sure. Would've had England caps if not for injury.

Probably. By coincidence, a lad that I was in seminar groups with at university in Hull had played alongside Richard in the youths and reserves at Scunthorpe and gave him a lift to training every day for a while. He also had a spell at Hull and told me that in around 1990 the win bonus for Hull's reserves was £5.

Yeah, but in those days, that would have got you a 3 bed semi in Hull...

Yep, two minutes walk from the MOTM, or at least I was.

Still live in Ipswich, but IP2 now.

Don't know why I though Wickham went to Kesgrave, must have been thrown in with Rhodes due to timescales and putting two and two together and making 436.

Seems to be a pastime of mine...

In my youth I played with and against both Dozzell Snr and Ruel and I can say ,Ruel used to run rings around us

I used to play for South Suffolk with Jason and bizarrely Ruel didn’t even make the grade

He was a stunning lad back then

Bobby Mayes, West Ham, after a spell in Belgium he returned to Town and made one senior appearance under Duncan.
